Did?

Do?

You're right. I think of him as someone in the past, but he's still around. Thank you for the correction

He's alive!

I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking he was dead though. He really takes his time between albums. He's only released three new ones over the last 25 years.

That's because he stopped living hard and doing drugs and was raising his son.

For a lot of 70's/80's artists that's how it is these days, an album every 8 years or so on average.

Oh I know. He slowed down for the right reasons. I just wouldn't be surprised if there were people who thought he retired or died though due to the longer periods between albums.

Been reading murder books trying to stay hip for years. So far, no luck.

Try Sherlock Holmes, Ford.

I can see you now in one of those hats. sherlock-holmes-herringbone-wool-blend-hat.jpg

I wear one of these in the winter. Pretty close.

Long story long...

In 2016 we took a road trip from NJ to Las Vegas to see the Rolling Stones. The night before the show The Stones canceled the concert. UGH UGH UGH. The Stones played The Desert Trip concert the week before and Mick's vocals were shot from the dry heat ( or so they said ).

What to do ? Our options were (1) Donnie and Marie (2) Elton John and (3) Billy Idol. We decide to sleep on it and decide the next day.

We wanted Elton but he was sold out. Donnie and Marie were not in the running so it was Billy Idol.

Billy and his band ( Steve Stevens included ) were playing at the House of Blues and we got a table on the floor.

WHAT A BLAST !!!!!!

So happy we saw Billy.

My favorite Billy Idol album

You didn't want to see Donny and Marie??? :o

And chose Billy Idol instead????? :o :o

 ;)

I've seen Donnie and Marie way too many times. I'm kinda burnt out on them. :D

My latest thing is getting to know the man/men behind the music.

In case anyone else is interested, here's a Billy documentary. If you know of a better one, let me know. I already suspected someone packaged him, but he wouldn't have gone anywhere if he hadn't been talented.

It was pretty good, but his poor mother and father seemed devastated by his success. All they wanted was for their Wilhelm to find a nice girl and settle down. :laughing guy:

I flew to Vegas to see him and Steve Stevens at the House Of Blues three years ago. I love him.

It's not just Billy Idol, it's a duo for me. Steve Stevens is one of the greatest guitar players on the Earth.

They have an amazing chemistry together.

I love them both.

My daughter goes to Cal State Monterey.

I was able to drive down to see my amazing daughter for a nice dinner out in downtown Monterey.

Then she went back to college and I saw Billy and Steve together acoustic.

All I wanted was "Blue Highway" but I didn't didn't get it.

Regardless, it was an amazing show.

After the gig I snuck out to their tour bus.

Saw Billy and Steven scamper in.

Told them both I loved them.

They hopped on the bus and ordered pizzas.

I live for ROCK.

I will die rocking.

It's probably for the best they didn't do Blue Highway on an acoustic tour. I don't see how the song would work at all with that arrangement.

Earl, Billy was a wild one. I wonder what would have happened if the two of you had ever hung out together back in the day? Probably would have been something like this: giphy.gif

  ;)

By the way, I forgot who it was - Night Ranger? - you are and your Dad were supposed to go see in Vegas this summer. Are you still going?
