So it seems we don't have one of these, well now we do!

Here's a place to discuss Jethro Tull to your heart's desire! Oh, and vote for your favorite Tull studio album!

Personally, I've always been amazed at how commercially successful Tull were in the 70s for how little of them I've ever heard on the radio, but maybe they were more of a UK thing. That might explain it.

Also apparently Aqualung wasn't released as a single from Aqualung? Could've fooled me, as I'm not sure I've heard another Tull song played half as much as that one.

Tull were big in the States, and in their heyday sold out big venues. For example, on February, 1975, Tull did five sold out nights at the 20K seat LA Forum. Album-wise, Tull had a long string of gold albums, a Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play both topped US pop album charts at #1. Their compilation album M.U.: The Best of... went platinum. Radio staples include Thick As A Brick, Bungle In The Jungle, Bouree, Skating Away..., Living In The Past, Aqualung, Cross-Eyed Mary, and others.

One of my favorite bands of all time. I even like Under Wraps (you and me, Greyfriar!)

I find A Passion Play to be a little more interesting than Thick As A Brick (although I treasure my original vinyl copy of the latter). Songs From The Wood is a gem beginning to end.

That's astounding to me, because the radio never plays them here! They'll play Yes, they'll play Floyd, they'll play Rush, but they don't touch Tull for as successful as they were.

One of the bands that is in the "Own league" folder on my computer. I love almost every album from them but my fave is definitely Songs From The Wood!

@goose - Under Wraps is killer!

I'll vote, but it won't be a definitive choice. I absolutely love Jethro Tull, and many albums contend.

I do not, however, like Under Wraps. That album is awful. 'A' is acceptable. Everything else is solid.

Btw, I was going to choose Heavy Horses as my second, But it was unavailable.

That’s cuz I’ve already got it!

  • A Passion Play ** This album has a lot of goosebump moments
  • Minstrel in the Gallery

Saw every NY area Tull show from Aqualung to Songs from the Wood.

A Passion Play was my favorite show, followed by Minstrel.

Band intermission movie for A Passion Play.

What's the general consensus on Crest Of A Knave? I see it all the time in my local record store, but I've never bought it because I can never recall if it's supposed to be any good.

A very good record, it was considered a comeback album, and it features a couple of solid extended pieces. The shorter songs are hood too. Some people complain about the presence of Knopfler-esque guitar work, but I think those bits serve the songs well.

Budapest and Farm on a Freeway are highlights.

I've been listening to some of my new Jethro Tull albums a lot recently. Minstrel In The Gallery and A Passion Play. Thick As A Brick may wind up with some contenders for my favorite Tull album pretty soon. These are just excellent.

Songs from the Wood is my fav, so definitely my recommendation for next!

Stormwatch I quite like too.

Not a huge fan of Crest, I prefer Roots to Branches. Not a popular opinion, but it is what I prefer.
