Well well well! Time for you Rushhead Haters to start swinging. Star slagging, start roasting or even ripping me! Oh yeah baby!

Bring it on because my skin is a lot thicker than what most you cyber humans believe to be so true!

I really don't care what anyone says about me on here. I will continue to be me and "SHOUT IT OUT LOUD!" FUKKKK IT!

I had one of the greatest METAL nights of my life last night! YES PAT TREEDUCK PUCK! THIS METAL THREAD IS DEDICATED TO YOU!!!!!!!

Where shall art begin????

So I am sure most of you METALHEADS know who is in the All Star Band called Metal Allegiance. Testament guys. Megadeth guys, Machine Head guys, Armored Saint guy and Mike Portnoy on the drum kit of course!!

Well!

Thanks to good fortune, one of my greatest most closed friends and metal brothers on the planet is a very close friend for John Bush. Of course from Armored Saint fame. He has one of the greatest metal voices still on the planet.

Anywho, John gave us tix and VIP passes. We were able to hang on the tour bus too.

You guys wouldn't believe who I fuckking met on the bus.

Dave Ellison from Megadeath. Phil from Machine Head. On and on and on. I was blown away how wonderful and nice these old METAL LEGENDS were to my buddy Dan and I throughout the entire night. I even saw Mike on the sidewalk, but at that point I left him alone.

I had a feeling I would get a chance to meet Mike after the show and see where our conversation would go.

The night was beyond amazing.

Some hot woman from KAMELOT was a guest on stage and did some crazy growl. Oh Pat, I instantly thought of you. A totally hot beautiful woman singing that cookie monster shite. It's so funny because in the after party, I met her. She was soooooo sweet and so nice! KAMELOT is coming here in October and she wants to hang with Dan and I again! Metal Musicians are SO NICE!

The lead singer from MASTODON showed up and sang some tunes.

EXODUS showed up and did a three song reunion.

Not my cup o tea but they were heavy as fuckk. Right up your ally Pat!

The drummer from Anthrax showed up too and they did a few covers with John Bush on vocals. The guy is a fuckking METAL GOD!

Armored Saint is so underrated.

"MARCH OF THE SAINT!!" Hello?

They did some deep cut by Metallica and "The Trooper" by Maiden. Also "Iron Fist" by MOTORHEAD!

They also did "Peace Sells" thanks to the great Dave Ellison. OMG, he was soooooooooooooooo nice too!!!

I mentioned to Dave and some of the other guys that I just saw Y&T at The Fillmore a few weeks ago.

They all love Dave Meniketti and of course the band! DUH!

IT"S A FUCKKING HEAVY METAL FAMILY HERE IN THE BAY AREA!!

I felt like part of the family too! I've been listening to Megadeth, Testament, Armored Saint and Anthrax since the early 80's! I fit right in baby!

Taling metal and talking about RUSH to Legends!!

So now.........

Let me clear my throat.

Yet my hands will still do all the talking.

After the gig we went upstairs and hung out with all of these amazing musicians.

I met the guitar player from one of the opening bands and he told me his dad is the original drummer in Neil Diamond's band!!! I almost had a heart attack! This guy's dad is the drummer on "Hot August Night!" One of the greatest live albums ever made.

I know you think I'm nucking futs but it's all one big circle. One big musical connection. I was the only one in that room who was blown away! I hugged that guy and shedded at tear! I'm a Neil Diamond freak! So he told me a story. The dude said... "when I was really young I would get to hang out with Neil. One day I sat on his lap and Neil told me..... kid, if you ever want to make it in the music business make sure you write the hook." Ummmm "Hello Again?" get it? A Neil Diamond song! LOL! Neil is a HOOK MASTER!! I love Neil! Thank the Universe I saw him three times in my life!

So...

As we were talking I saw Mike walking though the balcony area. A few minutes later he was walking right up to me so I decided to approach him.

I'm like...... "Mike! How are you? My name is Earl. The last time I met you was at The Stone for the Images And Words Tour." He was like, "oh cool! I remember that show!" I was wearing my Grace Under Pressure Tour Tee shirt last night. I said..... "Mike! Do you like my GUP tee? I was 16 when I saw this tour at the Cow Palace it changed my life!" Mike said.... "yes! I saw that same tour too! It blew my mind! Of course I saw it in New York!" I said of course! Incredible show! Mike, I've seen Rush 60 times in my life since 1984!" He looked at me and his eyes almost popped out of his head! He laughed and I shook his hand! I then asked to get my pic with him and my buddy Dan! He was sooooooooooooooo nice!! It was his birthday too! I wished him a happy birthday. He was so cool. They gave him a cake on the stage during the show and everyone sang happy birthday to Mike.

So you never know what is going to happen in life when you meet someone. Sometimes they may be cranky and standoffish or they can be totally fuckking cool.

So with that being said, I must apologize for making fun of Mike on here.

He was so engaging and so sincere and nice to me! We totally bonded over other Rush stories! I told him about my experience in Toronto on the Grapes Under Pressure IV wine tour. He was like a little kid and so happy for me that I went. He told me.... "Oh yeah man, Geddy and Alex are great guys! So cool you got to hang with them!"

Amazing.

I was also lucky enough to sit with Alex Skolnick from Testament. My GOD, I was never a big Testament fan but Alex's tone and shredding blew my mind last night and I told him! He was so nice and flattered. He asked me how his tone was. I said it was great! We then talked about Dave Meniketti because Alex grew up near me in San Ramon back in the late Seventies. So we talked about the old days and hard rock and heavy metal. Alex was soooooooo awesome too! he gave me a guitar pick!! I was also lucky enough to get a set list!

So then we are all about to leave and my buddy Dan tells me we need to find a place to eat because John from SAINT is hungry.

So at 2 am in the morning we find this packed mexican joint. We all order burritos and shoot the shit till three am in the morning!

Fuckk. I didn't get home till 3:40 in the morning!

It was truly one of the greatest nights of my life!!!

Typing words about my experience does not do it justice, but hell, here is my night for many of you to read!

Ask me any questions.

Rip me apart for being a Portnoy guy now. Look I get it, but hey, at least I'm an honest guy.

Mike Portony is a GREAT GUY!!!!!

If you don't agree, I get it.

Then please just.....

"PULL ME UNDER!"

RUSH ON BITCHES!

METAL RULES FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!!

Absolutely awesome! I f-ing love it!!! :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz:

Hello my other fuckking METAL BROTHER!

I love you Jonny!

I am so lucky to have soooooooo many friends on despite despite a few bad apples!

"THAT'S LIFE!"

Love,

Frank Sinatra and Diamond David Lee Roth

Jonny!

I swear to you.

"Peace Sells" and "The Trooper" and "Metal Millita" and "Leper Messiah" sounded better live by Metal Alliance than Mega, Maiden and Metallica!

JMO!!!

That show rocked my fuckking cock sock off! LOL!

Nice one. Great to read you met Mr Mike Portnoy in person and he seems so humble. That's the trouble with the net, everyone judges without really knowing the person. Strange times.

Gary Holt on guitar! playing Slayer your fav ;) !

Hahahaha! I love how you know me so well! "HELL AWAITS!" "REIGN IN BLOOD!" You are correct! I will PASS!!!!

You are right my friend about Mike.

I met Mike at The Stone when he was young and he was stand offish when everyone else in DT at that time were so cool and nice.

So, yes, I was rubbed the wrong way man, but that was waaaaaaaaay back in the day.

Then you are sooooo right.

I read all the stories about Mike and that he's a dick and I agreed with the crap I had read over the years. Especially on here. So I went along with it and poked fun at Capt Blue Beard.

I know. I'm guilty.

But fukk the past.

Mike was sooooooooooooo humble and so friendly. Perhaps it was our Rush Love Connection Erection! Regardless, it was amazing and he's one cool cat.

I love him again! LOL!

I know I've bashed DT over the years but I am consistent damnit.

I was obsessed with DT with "When Day And Dream Unite" "Images" and "Awake." My favorites! I wanted to tell Mike that "6:00 AM" is my all time drum pattern in DT History but I couldn't remember to say everything. You know you have to be cool and move on quick.

I have proper octoban placement in my main kit and I can attempt ""6:00 AM" but man, I can play any Rush song better. LOL!!!

RUSH ON!

You can read it here first in public!

MIKE PORTNOY IS AWESOME!

Too bad he got fuckked by those other guys in the band.

It was Mike's baby correct?

Didn't his grandmother have a store called Dream Theater?

Not sure but it sucks, but hey, no matter who the hell you are. No matter how much money you make. Life throws you curveballs man.

Fuckk it guys.

Give me health over wealth anyday!

GOODNIGHT!

I'm going to dream of being in Rush tonight. LOL!!!

Lucid dreaming keeps me young! LOL!

The inner Portnoy fanboy was always there. It just took meeting him for it to come out.

Great story. I'm not sure how I would react? The only metal god I ever meet was Dio and it was an autograph signing. So, there wasn't time to say much. It's nice to hear they were all really cool though. That makes it easier when you do meet these people because some fans can be a little intimidated at first.

Love John Bush whether it's Armored Saint or his run with Anthrax. Such a strong, raw and emotive voice. One of the most underrated vocalist in metal. Too bad Armored Saint hasn't been more prolific since they got back together. But I remember reading that Bush and Joey Vera aren't into touring heavily anymore. They would rather enjoy life and being with their families than being stuck in the full time music cycle. I can respect that.

I wonder if you left the impression on these guys that they left on you, Earl?

John Bush has a lucrative business doing voiceovers, and he and his wife have an agency for voiceover actors as well. I think the success of that business and the fact that he has kids played a role in him slowing down and even leaving Anthrax in 2005.

Oh, I didn't know his voice over work had gotten that big. I knew he did some voiceovers for a Burger King campaign that ran on TV a number of years ago but never knew he created his own business for it.

I know all about it Rod. Dan and I were talking to John about that on his tour bus. It was Burger King.

John is a sweetheart of a man!

I learned so much about metal, rock and roll and humans being in general.

Who gives a fuckk what you read about in magazines or especially in social media or online, or hell even on FORUMS!

When you get a chance to actually spend a night with these guys and gals in the music biz, you learn how amazingly cool and down to earth everyone is.

Now I know anyone can have a bad day or night but wow, Saturday was magical for me.

Perhaps because all of these METAL LEGENDS are a lot older now. More responsible? No drugs, no booze, no partying anymore in 2019?

Everyone was so laid back and cool!

I was just a stranger for a night yet made friends in the Old School Metal Community swiftly.

A night of the Ages.

ROCK OF AGES!

Hahahaha! Wang Dang Sweet Poon Tangy! LOL!

That's cool if his dad came up with the name!

Yep!

I know I've been a bad boy over the years for the direction Dream Theater went.

But!

I was there from the very beginning and despite all of my hot air captain keyboard cunning stunts, I've been addicted to Dream Theater from "When Day And Dream Unite" to "Awake."

I followed that band in the Bay Area when they were just in small clubs. Then always at The Warfield.

it's kind of ironic because I told Mike that night that I really started to fall out of grace with the band on the "Six Degrees" Tour. "Falling Into Infinity" was great! LOL!

But Mike was cool and just said, "yeah I get it that album wasn't for everyone." I then said... "It's ok Mike, I still went to the Six Degrees gig at The Warfield and my buddy and I were about to leave but then you guys played By-Tor And The Snowdog. It was great!" He thanked me.

Yes Tangy, I'm a fanboi of Mike's. The drumming on "6:00 AM" still blows my mind.

What a wake up call. Get it? LOL!!!

Forget the past. I live for the now.

Mike is a great guy!

Infectious persona and voice.

Perhaps we were just two Rush nerds talking about our love for the band.

Who knows.

But I do know one thing.

I LIVE FOR METAL!

Thank you everyone for putting up with me over the years!

Good karma and vibes to everyone.

I'm sorry I like to cross the line and stir the online forum pot!

I will never change.

RUSH FOREVER!
