custom55
Not exactly an obscure solo, but always impressive to me... way underrated... play it loud...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3cu8sDa90Y Brilliant one ! Love it
custom55
Glimour's solo during the Atom Heart Mother Suite... about 1/2 way through the song. When I drive home from VT to NJ, I drive through a desolate area in VT of farmlands / silos / barns covered in snow. I time it so the solo is happening while I drive through those farms. Rutlefan
Starts at 2:52, featuring Johnny Marr. The The's take on the Fred Neil classic. I love this simple, poignant, outro solo; much like another favorite, Alex's from Different Strings.
Rutlefan
Brilliance at 1:08: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hcZ4s9cvpw Hilarious! And that would be the incomparable Neil Innes of Ron Nasty/Rutles fame playing that solo, I believe. For those not familiar with Neil's work, among other things, he was the head of Robin's minstrels (M. Python and the Holy Grail).
ClashWho
Not particularly underrated, but I love the ones in Ten Years After's "I'd Love to Change the World" and Jethro Tull's "Aqualung."
