Or can you?  Other than buying CDs, merchandise, and attending shows, why can't you invest money in upcoming bands?  You never hear bands ask you for money, via Patreon,  like some bloggers and vloggers?

Didn't David Bowie or someone sell their catalog a few years back to investors?  I can't remember the details but something like that happened.

You absolutely can. I was reading the Kiss bio 'Kiss and Sell' recently and their management raised significant investment in the 70s.
