Radiohead - Kid A How do you follow up the best record of the year, one of the most experimental popular albums ever, and your own career high? Double down on the experimental side and refuse to be a rock band. OK Computer may have been Radiohead’s most enduring release in the long run, but Kid A is the most representative of their MO. Icy, cold, post apocalyptic, haunting, robotic, but full of emotion. This is the pessimist’s soundtrack to the 21st century. Stand out track: How To Disappear Completely

Since they got into the rock and roll hall of fame so quickly I want to agree. But Creep is the only song from them I know off the top of my head. So I can't say for sure that they are or not. Wire - Chairs Missing Follow up to incomparable debut Pink Flag, going a whole new direction with keyboards and more complex song structures. Then they would follow Chairs Missing with the incredible 154, tacking yet again with a darker, serious, even more complex sound. They were dubbed "Punk Floyd" eighteen years before was Radiohead. Speaking of Radiohead, they certainly weren't overrated through In Rainbows; they deserved every bit of the praise and adulation. For me, OK Computer was the Revolver or Dark Side of the Moon of its time. After In Rainbows though... the emperor is losing more clothes with each release; too much Thom Yorke, not enough Radiohead. Just wanted to see how long it would stay like that lol. And at least ND never did Roll The Bones :P Too bad Napalm Death never did Roll The Bones. They would have had a platinum album instead of making a career out of recording unintelligible noise. I'm not surprised the general Rush fanbase can't appreciate something that doesn't have lyrics about trees and spaceships and isn't played with a "look how good I am!!!" attitude. I'm sorry you have such a shallow opinion of a them, but if you don't "get it" or like it you aren't likely to ever so I'll leave it at that. It's worth noting that they invented a genre, regardless of how artistically valid you think that genre is, that's saying something. How many bands on that list can that be said for? I'm a huge metal fan, I know they created a genre. You can create a genre all you want, it doesn't mean you're actually talented in any way. By the way, I think the lyrics to The Trees suck and I couldn't care less if a band plays with a look how good I am attitude. As long as it sounds good it doesn't matter to me if it's the easiest song in the world to play. Jake E. Lee was recently on Eddie Trunk's podcast. I don't really care for Trunk, I think he's a name dropper and I think he is the musical equivalent of a jock sniffer. But he does get good guests. Anyways, Lee was talking about the difference between "sloppy" guitarists, like Page or Perry, and guys like Malmsteen, who he hates. Give me the former every single time. Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High How do you follow up one of the most perfectly bittersweet sugary pop punk albums ever? Turn up. Go louder, bigger, more complex, more personal, more universal, more more more. If Fall Out Boy weren’t ott before, they certainly became so here. But it’s brash and bold colors won them more accolades from the charts and the fans, proving to be one of their most enduring releases. Entre_Perpetuo
72. Dream Theater - Awake Images and Words put them on the map and blew people away, but Awake proves they weren’t going anywhere. The first sign of their incredible endurance. Instead of going proggier, they went heavier (with the times) and bashed out some of their best songs. This is my favorite DT album, if only because hearing it for the first time recemented my interest in them after it had waned for a long while. Every song is thrilling, and many inspired.
