Oh, sorry. I guess it's just me who thinks you try and work a Queen mention in wherever you can.

As for this list I just picked an album I enjoyed as a kid where half the songs were humungous hits. I figured since you picked Cyndi Lauper first you wanted this to be more of a straight ahead pop list. Like albums that have multiple top 20 singles and sold a zillion copies. Not sure Hot Space fits that.

If prog pop counts...

27) Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid

In this case, "Pop" is short for popular songs that you'd frequently hear on the radio, I don't think that album qualifies.

Yeah, I Robot, Turn of a Friendly Card, or Eye In The Sky would qualify.

Wow, I'm a lucky boy and glad that my local radio station plays some classics from time to time. One More River, What Goes Up and even The Raven are radio staples for many years over here.

Now let's talk about the Stones or Priest on the list...lol :D-13:

Or Yes. ;)

Pop is an enigmatic genre, but one thing's for certain, it isn't always popular. I picked Cyndi Lauper first because she was both incredibly popular and made incredibly good pop music. Hot Space is pop, even though the only popular song to take off from it was Under Pressure (which was released before it as a lead single and tacked on the end later). Imo, in a kinder world, Staying Power, Back Chat, and Las Parablas Des Amor would've been smash hits.

Explain this entry.

Tom Sawyer being a radio hit, maybe?

Anyhow...

38. Queen - Hot Space

Maybe "The Game" instead. :finbar:

I thought about it, but my gut said Hot Space was poppier, even without the four smash singles. Another fine choice though.

44. Rush - Moving Pictures

Explain this entry.

"Real fans," are those who followed a band before they broke huge, and reject the breakout album as being "too commercial" or "too pop." So you get fans saying albums like Screaming for Vengeance or 90125 or Eliminator or Moving Pictures are "pop." Literally they are I suppose (popular) but they're not "pop" albums. So since Some Girls was listed, I felt free to list a few breakout albums as being "pop." Moving Pictures is a classic example. Venture into the Rush forum and you'll see wingnuts telling you that Moving Pictures is the band's 12th best album.
