There are much worse songs than that.  I’ll take it over most of the crap of the past two decades.

And it’s not just the 5 year old childhood nostalgia in me talking.

As a kid in the 80s this song was my introduction to the band. I don't mind it. But if you were a fan of their previous incarnations I can see why you hated it.

It's a big lab of meh.

I love it. It's cheesy and fun and reminds me of my childhood.

Nothing wrong with stupid pop songs from time to time.

If rather listen to this than Fall Out Boy or Imagine Dragons.

Lyrically it's a little clunky, but not a bad song despite what the bandwagon jumper onners say. I'd rather listen to this on repeat 24 hours a day than listen to something like "My Doorbell" by the White Stripes even once.

Did Bernie Taupin write the lyrics?

Or anything by White Stripes to be fair...

A great straight forward fun pop-rock anthem, bonus points when the "local" version is played.

Yes, early on anyway. He says it was a darker song before the producer came on board.

No sense in comparing it to other songs, or other eras of music. Either this song stinks or it doesn't. This song really stinks. It's awful.

Nothing says "We've sold out as a rock & roll band!" better than making a song like "We Built This City".....

When you compare it against other Jefferson works like White Rabbit, Miracles or Find Your Way Back, it sucks. Dreadfully. In a vacuum, it's not horrible.

Salt Lake radio stations used to insert their own spoken part in place of the San Fran one at the end. Cheezy.
