1. Nightwish- Wishmaster

2. Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory

3. No Doubt- Return Of Saturn

4. At The Drive-In- Relationship Of Command

5. The Juliana Theory- Emotion Is Dead

Special mentions:

The Gathering- if_then_else

Jimmy Eat World- Singles

Lacuna Coil- HalfLife EP

Within Temptation- Mother Earth

I have At The Drive-In somewhere. Gotta find it...

Its an amazing album, and it's influence on the post-hardcore, emo and alt-rock scenes are undeniable! Hasn't aged a single day...still surprises me it became as big as it did.

Nevermore - Dead Heart In A Dead World

Iron Maiden - Brave New World

Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet

Nightwish - Wishmaster

Within Temptation - Mother Earth

Honorable mentions:

Dio - Magica

Disturbed - The Sickness

Shadows Fall - Of One Blood

AC/DC - Stiff Upper Lip

Black Label Society - Stronger Than Death

That list was longer than I thought it would be. 2000 was a better year than I remembered.

Nice to see Disturbed!

Nevermore was great. Unfortunately, their singer Warrel Dane died late last year while working on a solo album. So any hope of them ever getting back together is gone now. Their guitarist Jeff Loomis has been busy playing with Arch Enemy for the last several years which is obviously a better paying more high profile gig than Nevermore ever was.

I know metal elitists like to shit on Disturbed but i've always liked them. They do have a unique sound and David Draiman has a one of a kind voice whether the haters want to admit that or not. Seen them a bunch of times live between 2002 and 2011.

I like Disturbed, same as I like much maligned bands as All That Remains (early), Linkin Park or even Lacuna Coil.

Arch Enemy are extraordinarily bland. Saw then in 2007 live with Angela Gossow up front. Amazing stage presence.

Now? Hate to say it...metal Barbie with aimless songs

Actual picks for 00, we’ll see how far I get.

Kid A - Radiohead

Parachutes - Coldplay

Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

Horrorscope - Eve 6

Marshal Mathers LP - Eminem

There are literally 1 or 2 other albums from this year that I’ve heard, and they did not deserve to make the top 5, whether I could find 5 more or not. The five above are the only five albums from this year which I’ve heard that I hold above average regard for.

That said, there’s my five.

Ah the year 2000. When I was young I was so excited about being alive in the 21st century! The future would be fantastic.

Oh well. Maybe there was good music at least.

No particular order of course.

1: Rancid -- Rancid Underrated greatness

2: Organasm -- Alchemist Contender for best metal band

3: The Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx -- Fishbone My favorite Fishbone and no one else bought it

4: Brave New World -- Iron Maiden The return of Bruce!

5: Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea -- P.J. Harvey If she puts out an album it makes the list.
