Has science diminished the quality of life in this regard ?? ... Science, -and the "facts" it pushes - is usually good for one thing at least - disproving previous scientific theories that had been taken as law ..

The incredible advance with the discovery of DNA has only open more questions .. The simple fact is that there is more that science cannot explain than it can in regards to the most fascinating questions ..

The unfortunate aspect in all of this is that much of civilization and society has taken a huge step back in terms of celebrating the human spirit .... Being locked in the sterility of the laboratory has put blinders on us ..

For a few days of debauchery, drugs and random sex, all while surrounded by a lot of sweaty, dusty like-minded people. Sounds like a real hoot.

That is the best thing about scientific exploration and discovery. It’s a neverending journey. The more you discover and learn about the universe, the more opportunities you get to learn even MORE.

If I were a time-traveler, I would go to the Future - not the Past. I want to see how much more we’ve discovered!

I kind of feel that I remember remembering being somewhere else before being here.

Before here? You were probably at some blonde bombshell porn site. Either that or one with brunettes. Redheads are possible too.

I would have thought head shaven with full body tattoos would be his type.

Well yeah, they’re on his list too.

If she has a _________ and a heartbeat, she qualifies! :o :P

Pulse?

You're giving him more credit than I would...

:)

The semi-famous phrase is actually "If she has a

vagina

and a heartbeat...." :o

What's the big deal about typing vagina?

Americans are squeamish about them.

I am Canadian and have seen my fair share of squeamish vaginas. Edited by snowdogged

Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn.

Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed.

Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land.

Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours.

Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

Commander George Taylor had a point. Somewhere, out in the Universe, there just has to be something better than Man.

Sadly for him, though, he never considered the possibility of his finding something worse. :o

I can't stand when movies and TV shows that have aliens from other planets in them act like the human race is such a great thing and they are far superior to any aliens because humans are so caring. If you look at our world history, humanity has been a real piece of shit.

You suggested that we taken a step back in terms of celebrating the human spirit. Burning Man is just one example of how that's just not the case. Your sig would be another.

All things considered, this is a Golden Age of Man in terms of how free were are and how good life is.

You two guys should get in the ring! :P

But seriously, you're both right. We Humans are really good at playing with the Force - the Light and the Dark. We can be great and horrible, heroic and cowardly, benevolent and cruel. We just can't make up our minds on who or what we really want to be......

I don't really know how anyone can come to such a conclusion. Sure, humanity has its "Tytler cycles" of struggle and prosperity, but the march has undeniably been forward toward enlightenment, productivity, compassion and decency.

They really ought to make Steven Pinker required reading in school these days.

True, there has been some good progress In the past 100 years or so , but a lot of really really bad shit still goes on, There have always been good people but they were usually overshadowed by the horrific powers of their times. There is still much more injustice that goes on in the world than there is justice, but that is just my opinion. I think your opinion may need some review and I'll give you 1 example why. In this country (U.S.A.), when a cop shoots a black guy, it's all over the news for several days, at least. The BLM people, anti-cop people, SJWs and other groups, go into their tizzy mode, and demand justice, and talk about "they didn't have to shoot my baby", or "he was a good boy, he didn't deserve to die that way." People watch these stories on TV or read the sensationalist stories on social media, and they quite wrongly surmise that the cops are shooting black guys left and right. If they would stop and think, just for a minute, about the thousands of police/civilian encounters that take place on a daily basis, they might realize that those shootings are a tiny, tiny portion of what happens when a cop talks to a civilian for any reason. Now multiply that by all the negative news we are fed, school shootings, mass shootings, etc, vs the positive or even neutral stuff we hardly ever hear about, and you can see (maybe) how there isn't nearly as much injustice as the media would like for you to believe there is.

When I was talking about injustice in the world I wasn't thinking so much of the U.S.A. or other more developed countries. It's more 3rd world countries that I was referring to.
