2112 side 2 vs A Farewell to Kings side 2

Two classic Rush albums...but side 2 of these two aren’t always loved on TRF.

 

Wondering how this’ll go.

I slightly like Side 2 of AFTK more, but SFN is the best of the songs, and APTB is really good too. But the other three drag 2112 down, and there are parts of X-1 that I really ejoy, and nothing on AFTK2 that I dislike.

While I prefer 2112's side two to AFTK's (if only for the guitar solos alone), there's nothing on 2112 side two that can touch Cygnus X-1.

I voted narrowly for AFTK over 2112, although I chose Something for Nothing as the premier pick of the lot.

 

Neither side are great all the way through, but both have great tracks.

 

It's a close one. But I love Something.

I went with 2112 and Something for Nothing. SFN is very underrated and personifies the band's entire approach.

 

Not a Cyg Book I fan...especially the over the top vocals. Pieces of it are great, but it sounds too fragmented and the lyrics are hokey. It worked much better as a instrumental on the last tour...when all the Spinal Tap-ishness was stripped away.

 

I'll take SFN and Passage all day over Cyg Book I. The rest of the tunes are throwaways.

My #5 and #4 would probably be Presto and Vapor Trails respectively even though I mainly like both of those albums. There’s nothing I dislike on them anyway. They both have things I really like with a few things I don’t care about.

 

Going back to the poll itself, I went with Cinderella Man and Farewell. It was either that or Cygnus so for me, side 2 of AFTK was definitely going to win.
