Them Bones - AIC - Dirt

Jerry described it as slamming your head into the dashboard...yeah that sounds about right.

Try waking someone up to this with it cranked to 10...they'll piss themselves.

No real intro to it either. Just Layne screaming "AH!" right away. Very unique way to start a song.

But the guitar and drums crash at the exact same time, so the scream feels more like a physical collision.

I always thought "Feeling Gravity's Pull" was an odd song, especially for an album opener.

Had never heard it before, but that is indeed a curious tune.

R.E.M. are so perf they are da best my bois  Have you heard anything else from them!?
Everything.

I have

Life's Rich Pageant
Green (which I never listen to, didn't really care for much of it when I first got it)
Out Of Time
Automatic For The People

I have also heard

Murmur
Document

both of which are probably the top contenders for my favorite REM album.

Maybe not the most jarring, but "Going for the One" off of "Going for the One" by Yes is the one that stands out to me.  That pedal steel guitar intro was so "UnYes_like" when compared to the material on "Relayer" and "TFTO" that I couldn't help but love it right off the bat.

"The music is reversible, but time is not..."

I'm gonna go with Fire On High by ELO. Slightly comical by today's standards, but back in the day of concerns of album back-masking, I'm sure it raised Hell ( :fury:  ) with lots of parents. I remember reaching for the volume knob on my stereo the first time I heard it so my folks wouldn't freak out.

Somewhat OT, the album ender on Kiss's Black Diamond was a bit unsettling. I thought the belt drive on my turntable broke. Now, it just kinda makes me think about the movie Trick Or Treat.

Invaders by Iron Maiden.  Arguably the worst song on their best album.  The B side Total Eclipse is a much better song.

Agree that it's jarring, but I like it.

I thought about that track as well for this thread.  Jarring is a perfect word.

Great opener but jarring or surprising don't come to mind for me with that song.
