Doctor Who, 70's-era fans, Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee?

This is when I watched Doctor Who, after Tom Baker left it slowly went downhill and got cancelled after a series of disastrous scripts and mindbogglingly abysmal casting choices. Between the terrible stories and three shockingly bad Doctors in the 80's, the show was ruined beyond comprehension.

Hey, the 7th doctor was not a bad doctor... the writing wasn't great, but Sylvester McCoy was fantastic.

The 6th, on the other hand, yeah... shockingly bad.

The problem I had with him is I knew him as a mime artist on this kid's TV show called Vision On in the 70's. He was very annoying and I certainly never thought of him as a future Doctor Who. I didn't even think of him as an actor. And although I do think he was better than the absolutely atrocious Colin Baker and the woefully miscast Peter Davison (who was more like the Doctor's assistant than the Doctor), that's not saying much. It was too late by then anyway, the damage was mostly done.
