Thanks to everyone who voted!

In each group there was a clear cut for the top eight songs. This time, pick your top three in each group to advance to the final elimination round. After that, we'll pare it down to the top three of the nine that advance.

As I said, there was a pretty clear cut line, but there are a few awards in order for the voting from the first elimination round...

The "Where the bitches at?" Award: Only one female-dominated group was nominated, and that was the mighty Wilson sisters and Heart. The good news? They Advanced!

The "Missed it by that much" Award: Elton John, Dio-era Sabbath, Megadeth, and Jethro Tull got ten votes, just shy of the cut in their respective groups.

The "RUSH fans aren't totally square..." Award: The Clash's "London Calling" advances with a strong 13 votes, as does Nirvana with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with 16 votes. The Doors "Light my Fire" even got 8 votes.

The "What the hell is wrong with humanity?" Award: Riot's "Swords and Tequila" got more votes than Dire Straits epic "Telegraph Road".

The "What a colossal F-Up" Award: No Queen song advances, and "We Will Rock You" was not even nominated!

I can pick three songs in Group A, but in Groups B & C, it's letting me pick only one. :eh:

I'm not sure if there's any way to do this except in the comments, which adds a lot of tallying work, but it would be nice to do ranked choice voting in future rounds.

I nominated Sweet Leaf, and I couldn't vote for it in group 3. In fact only Roundabout (which I do like) and The Song Remains the Same (ditto) stood no chance of being picked in that group. The other two groups are much clearer choices IMO. In group one, only Aces High tempted me and in group 2 Gimme Shelter, Hells Bells and Mean Street were pretty easy choices.

Struggled with the third as I had four: Whole Lotta Love, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Sgt Peppers and Runnin' with the Devil. Left out Runnin' but it looks like it's the only one that doesn't need my help.

That would add some work, for sure.

Group B seems to have a clear top three, so far, but Groups A and B are up in the air. Time to open a few ghost accounts to set things right... ;)

I guess I'll run this through midnight tonight, to give folks a chance to lobby or - gasp! - change their vote, as they see fit. Meanwhile, be thinking of great B-side openers.

My picks:

I Baba, Sabbath, Edge

II Shelter, Highway Star, Immigrant Song

III Roundabout, Sweet Leaf, Whole Lotta Love

That's 4 of 6 that will likely advance. That's pretty good picking.

As things stand at 1:26 PST, it looks like I'll be taking the top ten, as there are six with 12+ votes, then a four with eleven after that.
