Oh gosh, you folks sure know how to make a girl feel loved  Thank you all for your kind words and well-wishes; I appreciate all of them so much, and will respond to each of you as soon as possible! Thanks also to Verena for telling me about this thread—my day has been made thanks to my TRF friends :hug2:

I’ve had a rather eventful life during my absence. Two dear people have passed away, one of whom was one of the dearest people to me. I’m grateful that I was able to travel to visit and care for him in some of his last days, and grateful that I was able to travel to speak at his service and present his widow with a portrait that I’d drawn. I’ve also been dealing with some health issues that popped up for me...and they will probably continue to limit my time online for a while at least.

Fortunately, I have some positive news to report, as well. I had been quietly designing a house and having it built, and now I have finally moved in. (Friends of Emily, I am thrilled to report that she seems to adore the house—especially the fireplace! ) My schedule became very hectic as the construction was nearing completion so between everything, I just couldn’t be here despite how much I missed you folks! A couple of days ago also marked the twentieth anniversary of my rape. It was a truly happy day, mostly spent at home looking out at the water and thankful for the resilience that has kept me “safe in the waves” for two decades. I do hope that my annual mention of this is not offensive to anyone...and once again, I shall take the opportunity to offer a friendly ear to anyone who may need it. No one should have to endure something like that alone.

It’s been a tumultuous time indeed, but you lovely people are reminders of the good in life! I hope that all of you are well. Cheers!

Even in small doses, your presence here makes this place better.

Sorry for what you went through, an truly happy for the good you've experienced .Throughout this post there are sprinkled reminders of the wonderful person you are. In a world marked by increasing rancor, you 're an exemplar of the best of the human spirit.

:hi: Hello, ORFie! I’m glad to be back, as well—hopefully I can soon be here more consistently!

Yes, I’ve always loved water! I never thought that I’d own waterfront property, so I always dreamed of having a water feature in my hard if I ever became a homeowner. You know, maybe a nice little babbling waterfall or koi pond or something. Well, in true “go big or go home” spirit, do I ever have a f***ing “water feature” now  I tried to crack that joke to a friend but I don’t think he understood. Instead he offered equipment recommendations based on his own set-up, which I’d always admired...so we had a good laugh when he saw my “water feature” for the first time. Now I can enjoy the water without the maintenance...and I have more room for plants! I’m very fortunate and grateful. I hope that you will be able to realize your dream, as well!

Thank you for your support with regard to my anniversary; I always remember your survivorship as well :hug2: Emily sends hugs to Sophie and Pigwidgeon, too!

She went watching Priest a couple of weeks ago in Canada, I forget which gig it was. She was a little under the weather before and didn't know if she'd make it to the venue but she did. Not heard from her since so maybe she's been resting up since then.

Those were f***ing amazing gigs! :haz: Rumour has it I’m still resting up :16ton:

What Duckie said.

I hope she's fine, doing a lot of Art and listening great music.

As she's always been.

Totally Friendly Our Dear Beanie Is.

Hopefully You Will Back Soon, Beanie!

:hug2: :hi: :sundog:

I miss my friend bean-tor.

:hi: Beanie! :hug2:

I have missed you very much, too, Verena! :hug2:

You were right that there has been much art—as much as possible, and some music, too! I was gifted a gently used piano and have been having a wonderful time learning to play! The piano bench has become one of Emily’s favourite places to nap but she picks out a note or two on occasion

:hug2: Thank you, Lyndsey! I’ve been a busy bean indeed, haha! I hope that you’ve been well!

Thanks regarding my house! It was quite the experience—exciting but also a whole lot of work (because I wanted to be involved in everything and tried to consider how I’d be living in the future, so that I could implement things during the build while it’s arguably easier and cheaper to do so). I still have landscaping to complete, so I’ll be a busy bean for some time yet

Yes, come back soon, Beanie!  :ebert: :ebert:

:hi: :hi: Welcome back, beanie! The house sounds awesome- I'm so glad Emily approves. The mention of your anniversary and the resilience you have found in yourself is an inspiration to someone in my extended family dealing with the same. It's good to hear from you!

Thank you so much, blueschica! :hug2: The house still feels surreal—my new studio space here is larger than my entire old apartment. I’m fortunate to have such a lovely “problem,” but it’s still taking some adjustment. Emily has lost weight with all of the running around and doing stairs  I was concerned about how she would react to the new house given her separation anxiety, so I put a lot of thought into planning her move. I even bought pheromone diffusers and placed them throughout the house...and she was totally calm when she moved in! Of course I took additional actions, but if anyone has anxious kitties, I’d definitely recommend pheromone products based on Emily’s behaviour.

I wish your family member much peace, healing, and happiness. If there’s ever anything I can do for you or your loved one, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I forgot that Bean is a rasta. :( I hope nothing happened to those dreadlocks!

Hope all's well with you, Bean! Take good care of yourself and come back soon!

I didn't know about that.

Yeah, she was asking me how I picked my stupid user-name, so I asked about hers and she said originally she wanted to be:

"Bean - TRF's Official Rasta" but thought it was too long and acronym-ed it.

I told her my name came from a session with a Ouija board. I know the occult can scare stoned Rastafarians so I hope I didn't cause her absence. :(

I was just kidding Bean! I don't own a Ouija board anymore! I traded it for a copy of "Dianetics" just like you suggested! Come back!

"Miles Davis is so groovy! My beret and plaid hipster-clamdiggers are so groovy! Damn, I'm one groovy cat!"

Me three :(

Oh vt, always able to crack me up with your creativity  You know, I really wanted dreadlocks when I was a preteen; naturally my mother said no. I thought she would lose her shit when a Jamaican schoolmate with glorious dreads took a liking to me in high school, but she was surprisingly chill about it. She didn’t even know that he didn’t want me to get dreads, either!
