Good poll. I was torn between Paint it Black and Paperback Writer, but I have to go with the Beatles here.

Paint It, Black.

I was raised on The Rolling Stones by my dad so this was easy for me.

This is really only Beatles v. Stones.  Oddly enough, Rain is my favorite of the 4 tunes.

The Stones.   The Rush cover was pretty damned good too.

As far as the best 'song' off the listed options, The Stones 'Paint it, Black'  with The Beatles ' Paperback Writer' a close second.

The Beatles Paperback Writer / Rain is the best combo out of this list.

Even if this was Long Long While vs the others, I'd go with The Stones

But Paint It, Black + one of their great early songs makes this one easy for me

Beatles, but The Kinks single should have been Dedicated Follower of Fashion (backed by Sittin' On My Sofa)!

Beach Boys.

I would not call them overrated at all.  Great tunes and they were all over the NYC/AM dial back in the 60's.

I've got my tickets to Brian Wilson's Christmas show in December.  Ho Ho.

Generally I almost always vote Beatles in a poll like this and with good reason, they're usually the tops in a poll like this. However, this time I actually did not. I think Paperback Writer while a good song and a fun song is not a great song. I thing Rain is, but the combo of Wouldn't It Be Nice and God Only Knows is 2 great songs on one disc so I voted for it.

Fair enough. I do think "Paperback Writer" is perfect power pop, for me it's a top ten Beatles tune. We are choosing from a list of great songs. Like what you like. It's all good... great.

In what?  Number of vowels in the band name?  Certainly not in the quality of their music.  :)
