TRF's top 120 albums of all time ever in the history of music. Qualifying round.

Awesome! That's the list folks. Hopefully everything that absolutely should be there is there, but of course no one will agree to that statement. I'll have the next thread up either very late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Also, keeping in mind I'm only taking the first 120, if you guys want to keep going, I see no point in stopping now. There are plenty of classics that didn't make the list.

Wait, no "Sheer Heart Attack"?!

This thread is null and void.

Do over!

And no Innuendo and no The Miracle and no A Day At The Races and no Queen I and no A Kind Of Magic and no The Works and no The Game and no Hot Space and no Flash Gordon and no Made In Heaven. A crying shame indeed. :P

I love all of those albums to death.

TRFers love to do Top Whatever lists that actually end up being an additional five thousand entries! Lists are fine but usually a list should end when it stated it was supposed to.

Anyway, your list makes more sense as it’s headed towards something at least.

I mean, I could've done it Lucas' way and chosen 120 albums myself and just started with the polls right there, but that seemed less fair. At least this way everyone's voice is heard from the start, even if it means a few classics get left out (how did no one put in Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath?).

I believe those were somewhat troll replies. They're were just trying to add something different than the same albums that always get the attention here. Both of them knew full well when they posted that there was no chance of those albums getting past the first round of eliminations.

It says TRF's top 120.

I am part of this forum.

Taylor Swift released my favourite album of 2012.

It's valid.

I'm not gonna read this whole thread, but whomever put Kendrick Lamarr and Taylor Swift on the list, should be banned for life from this, a RUSH messageboard.

I believe those were somewhat troll replies. They're were just trying to add something different than the same albums that always get the attention here. Both of them knew full well when they posted that there was no chance of those albums getting past the first round of eliminations.

It says TRF's top 120.

Taylor Swift released my favourite album of 2012.

It's valid.

Also Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly is one pf the greatest albums released this century, hands down. Just because you don't like rap doesn't mean it's automatically bad. Everyone has a right to post whatever albums they like, otherwise I wouldn't have started the thread with A Night At The Opera, nor would I have put down my album of the year from last year that nobody here listens to.

I took part when I realised my comment was stupid at the start of the thread.

We are all Rush fans. Being a Rush fan isn't exclusive to certain types of music listeners.

Not everyone who digs 2112 is going to prefer Deep Purple over Taylor Swift.

And not every fan of Rush is going to dig them over Paradise Lost.

And why can't a hip-hop album battle with the greats in certain listeners affections?

It's not about winning. We already know pretty much the top albums in this voting will be the predictable ones. But that doesn't mean the list has to conform to the expected. I'd rather listen to Trivium than ever listen to half these albums.

Yes. Well said.

I'm interested to see if Outkast gets more votes than Lamar. After all, no one questioned their presence here, most likely because they're older now. TPAB is a classic though, and we don't need to wait 20 years to be sure of it.

I don't know enough about Kendrick Lamar or Taylor Swift to have an opinion on them. But nothing in pop or rap has gotten my interest in a good 15 years so I probably wouldn't like them anyways.

I did sneak in The Heart Of Everything with you in mind! I'd have picked The Silent Force but we both dig the follow up a lot!

If you like rap, you should try Kendrick. He's very widely considered the most talented rapper of this generation, one of the more talented rappers of all time, and a real albums artist.

He's amazing.
