I got tickets for the Def Leppard-Journey show this week, so I've been binging on Def Leppard (I can enjoy some Journey but I'm not really looking forward to seeing what is essentially a tribute band).  Other than Slang, I have to say I can enjoy every single one of their albums.

I also just picked up the The Purple Tour and the 1987 30th anniversary editions.  Coverdale is a dreadful lyric writer, right up there with Sammy Hagar and Brian Johnson, but his voice was amazing.  I haven't given the Purple Tour a listen yet, but he sounded good on Made in Japan and Made in Britain.  And Forevermore and Good to Be Bad are both enjoyable albums.

Lep and Journey are supposed to rotate who closes the show each night. Maybe you'll luck out and Lep will be on first then you can leave early.

Al Di Meola is a bad ass.  One hell of a guitarist.

Played with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Jan Hammer, Jon - Luc Ponty,  Steve Gadd, and the incomparable Anthony Jackson.

Holdsworth and Mc Laughlin are hot, but  let's  see them try to race the devil on Spanish Highway.  Only person I ever heard of doing that was a guy named Vai.

Fusion forever!

I'm in love with Riot's "FIRE DOWN UNDER" record.  Rock Candy is remastering it!  I can't wait to get my two copies!!!  One to open and one to keep sealed!!!  LOL!

"SWORDS AND TEQUILA!"

I love your "signature" quote by Neil.

"Hand Over Fist" RULES!

One of the most perfect albums ever made. I didn't know about the Rock Candy remaster. Stoked! Thanks, Earl! FUKK!

I’d guess nearly every TRFer recognizes this band but only very very rarely are they mentioned.

Why the hell is that?!!

Here’s a 2fer because dammit! ;)

I'm with both of you!  I'm bringing my 80 year young dad to see Def Leppard!  Hoping Def opens too in SF!!

I know this is supposed to be an old school thread but have you ever heard of these guys, Earl. I thought you might dig the traditional metal cheesiness of it all.

J!

I LOVE IT!

I love the riff.  I love the melody,  The slick solo.  The vocals!  Even the video is awesome!

I noticed this is on METAL BLADE!  Great label!

I'm getting this man.

Gracias!

That's from their debut album a couple years ago. It's pretty solid overall. Their new one is out on friday.
