Rick N. Backer
With Super Bowl hype in full swing, it's probably time to get this thread up and running. I'm guessing no more than 5 votes for the Patriots on the "want" question.
thesweetscience
I want the Pats to win but only because it will make the local Ravens fans gnash their teeth in rage. Also, Philadelphia is a shit hole. I won't actually be watching.

rocket ignites
Only the thought of a crushing defeat for Philly's a-hole fan base could get me to "root" for the Evil Empire. I'm mostly indifferent.

liquidcrystalcompass
I'm pulling for the Pats because of Brady. Don't get me wrong, it's silly seeing young native Texans being front runners with the Pats and it drives me crazy. I'm a pull for your home team kinda guy. Greatness doesn't come around very often. Every twenty years or so. I worked in the restaurant industry during Michael Jordan's peak years and I made my schedule around the Bulls games. WGN showed them all on cable and I absolutely loved it. I swear I watched 80% of the Bulls' games during the peak stretch. It's not that Brady hasn't already cemented the QB position in history, I just want to see it go even further. I expect the Pat to win. Experience in big games is a huge plus. The defenses and skill position players are comparable. So, it comes down to the QB. I'll take Brady. I hope I just didn't give them the kiss of death.

Oracle
Would be great to see the Eagles get a ring, but we all know the deal by now. It's like with the AFC Championship game. We all knew the Patriots were going to win. The game is just a formality. NFL seriously needs to get competitive again. It's getting tired and boring to see nearly the same teams in the Super Bowl

Yeah, I know, but its like the lottery let me dream for 5 more days.
JohnnyBlaze
Right right, 17 years of cheating their way to Super Bowls this century. They even covered up their cheating by losing twice to the same team in the Super Bowl.

They even covered up their cheating by losing twice to the same team in the Super Bowl. It bears noting that since they got pinched in 2015 for intentionally deflating the footballs so much that the referees who handled the balls every single time they were sent in from the sidelines didn't notice, they've won two Super Bowls, are about to appear in the their third, and missed going to a fourth one largely because of a missed extra point. And after they got pinched for recording what coordinators did in front of 80,000 spectators, they went 16-0 and missed going 19-0 because Richard Seymour couldn't pull Eli Manning down, and Rodney Harrison didn't punch a football out from between David Tyree's helmet and hand (not that I'm still bitter about that game ;)).
KenJennings
The Patriots are my second favorite team. It's just a shame that they won't be playing against my favorite team. It's a privelege to watch the special moments in history- and watching a legendary 40 year old QB go for 6 is one of those special moments. Let's go Pats!

Proud bandwagon fan since 1975. :DMy life as a Patriots bandwagoneer... I was a few years later than you in becoming a proud bandwagon fan, in the late 70s as a little little kid not even 8. A few years later, I remember Eason taking Grogan’s job and me not feeling right with it. Grogan had some injuries then I think. I wasn’t even in junior high yet and Steve was the only Pats QB I had known up to that point. In 8th grade I had classmates rip the hell out of me for the demolition job the Bears did. The only thing more painful was that awful Bears rap (done by the team) AND that cringeworthy Pats song they came out with. In the 90s I had my uni schoolmates rip me when Favre & the Packers took it from Bledsoe & the Pats. I still remember that first touchdown by the Packers - Favre took off his helmet and was celebrating like they had won it all...even though it was just the first quarter. It hurt even more when the game actually ended. It never felt that close anyway at some point in the 2nd quarter. My Bledsoe and Terry Glenn jerseys are still in great condition and fit fine. I wore the Glenn one when watching the Super at a bar last year...but nobody knew who it was. :lol. One of my bro’s nicknames for me the last 13-15 years has been Doug Flutie (late 80s Pats QB of course...among a shitload of other teams in the NFL & CFL). It’s an inside family joke but yeah, many of his emails to me start with “Yo Flutie!...” So yeah, I’m looking at about 40 years of bandwagoning. And I’m just 45.

I sometimes wonder if things would have been different against the Bears if Dawson or Morgan held onto the balls that hit them after the Payton fumble, and if Blackmon held onto the pass of McMahon's in the flat, all in the first quarter. Probably not, given what the Bears were like that year. I also wonder if things would have been different against the Packers if Parcells gave a sh*t how the Patriots' season ended that year.
