I still maintain the solo from ESL is the best.

Neil had the power and the passion back then, probably because he was a lot younger tongue.gif

Not that the newer solos are bad, i just think hearing him really lean into the tom fills back then was awesome

Exit Stage Left hands down!!!!!!

It`s the, "Tightest" solo he`s ever done...in my opinion.

Also the fact that I `ve never seen him play that one live helps too!!

Ya`ll take care

Had to go with "O Baterista." The solos in "Different Stages" and "R30" both have moments that sound to me like (*gasp* can it be?) mistakes. I know even "The Professor" is human and doesn't play perfectly, and I'd rather have him loose and occasionally flawed rather than overdubbed into perfection as on ESL. But I think "O Baterista" manages to capture that "real" feeling but also caught Neil on a night where he was in fine form.

Dumb question.. what about Der Trommler from R30?

I picked Rhythm Method from DS. Second was O'Baterista.

I thought the one from this tour with all the weird electronics was really cool, but on the list, I voted for YYZ's solo.

Yeah, the new drum solo is very cool... I love that electronic stuff!!

Other than the double handed cross-overs he implemented later on, the solo on Exit...Stage Left is definitely his most exciting to this day in my opinion. It has far more energy. And I think it's definitely still the most challenging to play. He's all flying all over that kit and doing it way faster than any solo he did later on.

And the cowbell parts. Classic. That solo is what made me want to learn to play drums as a kid, so I guess I am a bit biased, but still. It's amazing.
