They invade by sea in the morning then parade and party into the night. Forcing all the citizens who are captured by this annual event to do what they must to capture beads and trinkets to adorn themselves with. Yes the legendary Jose Gaspar has returned and after forcing our mayor to hand over the key to the city, legal public drunkenness can begin! Even more so if you are actually on a vessel in the flotilla during the invasion. It is a little nerve racking pioliting the bay on a day like Gasparilla. Picture this in years gone by the tradition was for everyone on a boat to bring water gallons thus commencing the worlds largest water balloon fight. But the "Tree Huggers" put an end to that as they claimed the left over balloons caused the death of fish, birds & turtles. So the fun had to end but man those were the daze!!!
