Watching "The Breakfast Club" tonight.  CRITERION! WOW!

"Don't You Forget About Me" is etched on my Senior Ball Champagne glass!  Crazy!  I love that song by the Simple Minds!  I know the lead singer hates it.  I think U2 was asked to record it and BOZO I mean BONO said NO WAY!

Simple Minds are great but this John Hughes movie RULES!

LOVE IT!

TOP TEN!

Geddy used to say in interviews at the time that he was into Simple Minds.

The Breakfast Club is the quintessential John Hughes flick.

The quintessential 80s flick.

Saw this a billion times on HBO when it was first televised. A few years later, we watched this in religion class (I went to Catholic school) at my high school in the late 80s. My classmates got it wrong in thinking they were similar to a particular character. They debated which character was better (morally or what not) than the other.

“ ‘Cause when you cut down to the bone we’re really not so different after all”

Top 10 all time flick for me or very very close.

Me and my buddy watched it I don't know how many times on VHS.  So many great lines, and so much to relate to as a high school student.

Too right. It was one of my in-flight selections a couple of years ago on a long haul flight. Could’ve chosen from dozens of new movies and shows I haven’t seen but chose Breakfast Club for the billionth and first time. It really holds up strong.

Definitely an all time great, and a movie that, after I first watched it, left me feeling as if I'd just watched something much more profound than it should have been ..

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are ... You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions ... But what we found out, is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal.

Does that answer your question ??

Sincerely yours,

The Breakfast Club .

And the movie kicks off quoting David “Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes” Bowie!

Saw this on TBS many times in the 90s because HBO and Showtime wouldn’t play Universal movies for a long time and they were on Starz which was new and not on my cable company.  Got it on DVD in my early college years.  Hated how later tv edits would cut the marijuana scene out.

"Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe?"  Gold.  Pure Gold.

"Claire would you date a guy with elephantitus of the nuts?"

The movie is chock filled w classic lines.

They still show it to middle schoolers - some things never change.
