Confirmed what we already knew but it still gives me a pit in my stomach. At least I have those 60 Rush shows under my belt.

Sounds like Alex is too polite to say "Neil f***ed us."

:rush: is over . Maybe Alex and Geddy will do stuff in the future. Neil owes us nothing and I hold no resentment for his retirement. Hell I am amazed it lasted as long as it did. I am happy they got into the RRHOF and had a fantastic final album and tour.

No attack, and I'm happy for all the great music they put out there, but 64 is too young to pack it in.

Not if you play drums like that it's not!

Did we honestly think that Neil was willing to pick up his drumsticks for anything? Especially after he basically admitted that he hasn't played drums in over two years?

Make a poll. I bet some honestly think there’s at least a possibility that they’ll record or play a gig (or a few).
I wouldn’t vote that way but surely some would.

Yep.  There always comes a time to retire.  They may do some off shoot stuff down the road.  But as far as them ending?  So be it.  We had a hell of a run Rush fans!!!

Or I guess, more correct is:

Yes, BUT.......

Everyone knows that if Neil called the other two tomorrow and said, "Hey, I'm getting bored just sitting around.  Let's do something," then an album or tour could be back on the table.  That simply.

So....given that 64/65 is still plenty young for rock-and-roll, I still find it hard to believe that the last chapter has been written for Rush.

I can imagine that, after time apart and reflecting back to the past 40-some years, they each might think "holy crap, we did a lot"

A great run, and they ended proud

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to R40 the other day like I said here - my memory was of not enjoying it as much when it first came out. But yeah, you could definitely hear why Neil decided he didn´t want to do it anymore. There are many drum fills on R40 that he simplified a lot, especially in the older material. Compare that album even with not so old performances - The Camera Eye from the Time Machine versus R40, for example - and you´ll see what I mean.
