That's more like it. A current top three of Plant, Mercury, and Dio. Sounds about right really (even though I didn't vote for Dio)

Also this thread has made me realize how vastly I prefer McCartney as a singer to Lennon. Their voices are so similar but at the end of the day...Paul just seems a bit more capable.

I'd say of the great lead singers listed, Elvis, Plant, Mercury, Morrison and Roth really embody the idea of a rock and roll front man.

Yeah...although I'd maybe add Mick, Bon, and Steven Tyler, but basically you're on the money.

I don't think "take for granted" is the right term for Geddy and his voice, but in putting this together, and going thru the other 100 or so names that didn't make the list, it struck me how much I love him and his voice ..

It is safe to say that, had I seen a Kiss / Rush double bill in the 70s, that would be my two all time favorite singers right there

Geddy is an acquired taste vocally, but if you're into him...he's incredible. The power, the passion, the early lack of self control. As my dad says, his voice with Neil's lyrics is where a lot more of the magic happened in the band than most people expect.

I’ve only had two favorite bands in my life: KISS then Rush.

Destroyer made me have Kiss as my #1.

Moving Pictures made me switch (at the ripe old age of 9) favorites...though I had already known Rush when I was 5.

"With a better singer (such as Freddie Mercury or Paul Rodgers) Rush could be one of the biggest bands

in the world".

Signed

Ray Daniels . :P

Oh don't get me wrong. I love everything about Geddy and his voice. Well up to "Counterparts." Then eh

Meh

Geddy was amazing until the end though live despite not sounding that good. He gave it his all until "The End."

Too bad Rush didn't play that song on R40 ;)
