Night Ranger- Dawn Patrol (9/10)

Their first two albums are quite good.

I think the first two albums are brilliant, but they really didn't maintain the quality for long. Shame. Dawn Patrol is one of my favourite eighties albums.

When they first came out, I was a huge fan.  Brad Gillis was on my radar because he was coming off his stint with Ozzy, and he was talking about getting away from heavy metal and going back to his own band, "Ranger."  When Dawn Patrol came out, I remember thinking it wasn't metal, but it really wasn't all that different musically from Ozzy's two solo albums (to my ears, anyways).  I thought Jeff Watson was expanding the Van Halen guitar style in an interesting way.  Midnight Madness was just as good, although Sister Christian honestly wasn't my favorite track (the video was on constantly).  After that, they had some good tunes (the title track to The Secret of My Success soundtrack was a good 80s song) but they quickly fell off the table IMO.  I saw them last summer, and I was impressed.  They still sounded great.

The last three albums are absolutely fantastic, if you haven't tried them. Could argue that they are their best albums.

Pearl Jam-Binaural (6/10)

First one in this run i thought.....meh.

Mick

Played Vs today, for the first time in ages not as part of a PJ marathon. I need to listen to it more. Yes, I love the albums that frame it more, but OH MY GOD what a magnificent sophomore release!

It is!!  i can't decide if i like Vs. or Vitalogy more.

Depends on the day, lol

Mick
These days it's Vitalogy, as I played VS way more, and only recently got my own copy of Vitalogy.  Vitalogy is great.
