Jimmy Page was no slouch at solos either ... but his knowledge and use of chord stucture painted Zepsongs with a vast array of memorable riffs and melodies, allowing the rest of the band to expand their musical horizons at will.

couldn't stand the weather is a prime example of Stevie's expert ability to lay down a stanky groove.

 

 

His live version of superstition is another.

 

Heavy strings...a custom set with 13s...and a heavy pick hand that allowed him to be aggressive and give him that chunky sound. No wonder he played down a half step with strings that heavy.
