Two classic tracks of American rock'n'roll. Your pick?

I'm going with Fortunate Son. Although this song is much shorter and without a guitar solo(HC has a great solo), it rocks better and it seems like a greater classic to me.

Fortunate Son for me as well ! I like it because it rocks harder and has the man vs. government element.  Hotel California isn't a bad song but it was so overplayed when it first came out and everybody I knew owned it; I really can't listen to it anymore.

Same. Hotel's ending guitar solos still hold up after all these years, but the rest of the song that preceded it is just meh to me.

CCR's is more of a raw kick ass song, the Eagles tune is bland.

Hmmmm it's actually close.  the interplay between Felder and Walsh is gold.

but i'm CCR.  as a complete song.

Not a fan of anything by Creedence and Hotel California is as overplayed as Tom Sawyer, but I'll still go with that.

Hotel California is much closer to the heart for me ( ;) ). Fortunate Son is great, but to me it gets old a lot faster than HC, not really one of my favorite CCR tunes.

Now if you had said Up Around The Bend, with that incendiary riff? I might have a different opinion.

CCR is fine.  Hotel California is an all time classic.  CCR doesn’t have one.

You guys are crazy. Just change the channel if something is overplayed. Then it’s not overplayed anymore because you’re not allowing it to be played :P

Anyway, I’m going for the cooler rock song with the cooler lyrics - Fortunate Son

I fully understand the status Hotel California has achieved, but the Eagles in general - and that song in particular - have always left me cold .. It's just so lifeless to me

I love Fortunate Son .. It's my favorite Creedence song and it has some passion behind it

CCR wins this one

I would say Proud Mary is an all time classic, and Bad Moon Rising some type of popular culture classic for all the "there's a bathroom on the right" jokes.
