grasbo
With the release of Rush debut,2112 and now Kings, are we going to be bombarded with future box/deluxe releases.Fly By Night and Caress missed out and probably with good reason but ten years down the track are we going to get some sprawling mega box set of Hold Your Fire with easter eggs floating around in an icloud or whatever technology is happening then.I think the next four or five albums are probably worthy of some deluxe treatment although Moving Pictures has already had a go,but how far do you go?I will be gone by the time they get to Clockwork Angels40th.

CygnusXYYZ
I wonder too if they will continue with every release. I liked the 2112 reissue as it was a landmark album. I don't want to get the Farewell to Kings as I don't need the whole concert that is already on Different stages and I don't like Dream Theater as they are supposed to do a song or two. I also like original artwork and didn't see that on the FTK or 2112. Some bonus material would be nice, but they probably do not have any to release or they would have done so. bordercollie
Unless there's a great live show or even a concert video(!!!!), they shouldn't even bother with Hemispheres.

Entre_Perpetuo
I doubt they continue past HYF, if they even go past Signals.

grasbo
Fly By Night and Caress missed out and probably with good reason "with good reason" ??I like both these albums but they are not landmark albums.I mean they are really for diehard fans especially Caress. Its going to be the same for say Grace Under Pressure, probably my favourite, but one that really divides fans.I can see deluxe/box sets up to maybe Signals.Anyway since the band used most if not all what was recorded on the official albums what would be the point.I would like to see separate live releases for each tour like the GUP tour cd.Although i like Disney Theater and the other guests i feel it detracts from these reissues
goose
They could do a deluxe Power Windows with the cassette demos packaged in there somewhere.

78jazz
Unless there's a great live show or even a concert video(!!!!), they shouldn't even bother with Hemispheres. IIRC this is the time the band has said they started taping some of their shows on tour. I think it would be nice with future releases to see entire concerts released from those tours (especially if they are shows with no audience source running around). I will believe it when I see it, but I would also be all over them making all of their concert recordings for sale. I would not be surprised to see the full Edmonton '81 show in 2021.
goose
Thanks heaps, don't know how my reply ended up at the bottom of the last post.It happens. did you listen to it? What did you think of the different arrangements and vocal phrasing?
taurus
I would take any deluxe package from the first 8 studio albums but a worthwhile idea imo, would be an ESL Deluxe package - with a complete MP show culled from the Montreal show, the 3 night stint in Toronto and the Edmonton show. And hopefully some extra film footage can be found to add to the dvd. I think that would make a most excellent and rather obvious choice for a 40th Anniversary box set.

Tero
Just now getting to these. I’ve gotten 3 of the Tull 40th anniversary sets. Mostly for the extra tracks. I have nothing to play the 5.1 tracks on. Then, to sample the Rush sets, ordered the 2112. I seem to have a lot of live Rush material from other aets and DVD. With limited income (retired) I’ve noticed that if you wait a bit, these luxury set were cheaper at importcds.com than Amazon.
taurus
those Tull sets are great, got a few of them myself - loads of extra material, beautiful sound and nice compact packaging - and at a price that doesn't break the bank. I took a pass on the super deluxe Aqualung when it first came out but the 40th Anniversary book does quite nicely. I'm hoping they do a 40th for Heavy Horses. Tero
Heavy Horses...definitely part of the "good" Tull. Career seems to divide up in two parts sort of like Rush. I just have a few tacks of the last 5 real Tull albums, prior to Anderson solo. I have two of his solo works, where he was testing waters. The very last ones are sort of a copy of the Tull, but not quite the same thing. TAB2 for instance.
BenjaminW
Moving Pictures is obviously going to get some kinda 40th anniversary stuff, but I think it would be cool for Rush to put out a box set of bootlegs sometime down the road.
taurus
Yeah I see Tull in stages. Roughly speaking - the early stuff with Clive and Glenn 1968-71, part 2 with Barlow/Hammond renaissance/minstrel Tull 71-75, part 3 1976-78 rustic countryside Tull. For me Stormwatch was the last Tull album. Not saying what follows isn't very good, I thoroughly enjoy Broadsword, "A", Crest of a Knave, but it really seems like the band thing was dropped after Stormwatch and it was just Ian bringing along Martin to do solo albums. Not a criticism, just my opinion.
Tero
Absolutely, the first album of Tull is a different beast from the rest. I liked Glenn cornick on bass.
toymaker
I'd much rather hear demos, re-mixes, music only mixes or live stuff than other bands interpreting their music. I definitely DON'T want to hear Dream Theatre doing Hemispheres, or Foo Fighters doing the Trees, or whatever. Also, instead of commissioning new album art, I wish they could spend the money on really good quality colour reproduction of the original covers. If they do Hemispheres, the vinyl must be RED, too . . . and include the poster.
grasbo
Yes i would like to see the covers fully restored including extras like the poster in Hemispheres, something that Jimmy Page didn't get right with the deluxe Zep reissues among other things. My wife likes the new cover of AFTK,i do not.
