If you thought Peart was hard, this is even harder. Does anyone here know how to pronounce Alex Lifeson's given last name? I heard Geddy say it in the interview, but he said it so fast I couldn't make it out. Is it pronounced like it's spelled, or does it have some weird Serbian pronunciation?

(PS: I am STUNNED no one has made a thread about this yet...)

So, it's said like it's spelled.

Not as hard as I thought.

At least I think it's said like it's spelled. That's probably anglicized, but I'm looking for the actual Serbian pronunciation.

The j is soft, like y in year, but you already heard Geddy say it.  :)

In Serbian his name is written Живојиновић in the Cyrillic alphabet, or Živojinović in our Latin alphabet (both alphabets are used within Serbia).

It is pronounced roughly as "zhee-voh-YEE-noh-veech."

You can hear the name pronounced 5 seconds in, and again 9 seconds in.

No matter what the original Serbian way is, it truly comes down to how Alex pronounces it as he owns the name.
