I know that not all of the details are out yet, but this is probably going to be an example of an athlete dying while doing something stupid in pursuit of an adrenaline rush. Evidently the type of plane he purchased and was in at the time is commonly used to fly very low over the ocean for a thrill and go as fast as 110 mph. Accidentally clipping a wave at that speed means disaster.

 

I certainly feel sorry for his wife and children.
