I honestly thought that he was finally going to announce that LeeLifeson was happening or that he had at least some modicum of interest in doing another solo album or musical project....But no, he's just going to let Neil's retirement dictate his future. Geddy is an amazing person and my personal favorite bassist....but he needs to grow a spine.

All I hope is for at least one more album instead of letting Neil's retirement be Rush's ultimate future. As much as I deeply respect Neil since he is my favorite drummer and my hero, my respect for him is somewhat slipping away because his retirement just set off a domino effect of Rush's career going down the tubes in terms of what the future holds.

This, and the fact that rather than just not saying anything and quietly letting Rush slip away, Neil had to take a giant dump on the last 10 years with his foccocta book.......

I don’t know why anyone would want them to keep going when they’re not at the top of their game anymore. It would be terrible to see them become one of those bands that just don’t know when to quit.

I don’t know but last time I saw them they were very much at “the top of their game”.

You think Geddy sings as well as he did in the 80’s?  His voice has been declining since the late 2000’s.  Alex made a ton of flubs on the last tour and Neil suffers a lot every tour.  Why push it?

Everyone’s so focused on Neil’s role in exactly when they shut it down that they forget how old these guys are.  I hope they don’t do anything and enjoy their time.

I'm good with them doing anything as long as they enjoy their time --- travel, go to baseball games, take care of grandkids, drink wine, make a guest appearance on another band's/musician's album, make a solo album, etc.

The thought mentioned earlier in this thread that Neil is dictating the future of Geddy outside of the band is not only idiotic but also demented.

A significant portion of the R40 Tour was like that.

It's always been Geddy's intention (based on interview comments) since at least the late '80s that when it was time they would quietly go away..No long goodbyes or farewell tours though I suppose you could argue Neil's book is a bit on the dramatic side, Anyway,  I appreciated what he had to say about it.
