Watch this video. Watch it to the very end.

I dare you not to tell me that Geddy Lee is an absolute SWEETHEART. Or, at least that's how I see it.

There are things that would have me believe he's a nice guy in the real world, but this isn't really one of them . . . you know this is a prearranged skit for an internet channel, right? ( I like Geddy as well but Paul Rudd bugs me.). :P

You could swap out Geddy with anybody and make them look great here. Like Steve Howe or Axl Rose

Yes, I am well aware that this entire thing was a staged skit.

But here's the thing.

If my friend went to a RUSH concert with me on my birthday and faked backstage laminates; if we looked like total fools in front of the Holy Triumvate; if we clearly weren't welcome to go backstage in the first place; if we ate Neil Peart's sandwich, and Geddy Lee STILL had the absolute generosity to get all the members of RUSH to sign my double-neck bass and then give it to me and tell me "you forgot something- happy birthday," despite EVERYTHING else that happened (which based on the interviews sounds like something he would do), I would be practically screaming with joy and hailing Geddy Lee as one of the most generous and forgiving men in the world.

In other words, even though the whole thing was staged, that one moment at the end where Geddy gives Paul Rudd's character a SIGNED BASS, despite EVERYTHING that they went through and despite being kicked out of the room, is, in my opinion, EXTREMELY generous and one of the most heartwarming moments in that entire clip. To me, he didn't just give him that signed bass as a birthday gift.

It is a nice moment. And I really wish there were going to be more opportunities for good friends to fake backstage laminates!

You gotta admit, that was the most heartwarming scene in that clip, even if it was scripted. :)

Nice thread concept but poor example.. Anyone can act nice.

Besides, we all know that Geddy's kindness is because he's CANADIAN! :D

the time machine tour skit is a fun little piece but this is a better example of geddy being a nice guy to fans because it's real.

But ya see, people who suckle at the teat of Rush, especially Geddy, make these determinations without ever having met or talked to the guy, and even if they did, it was for 10 seconds at a meet and greet. Or they see some footage of an interview and decide he's the nicest guy (and one of the most attractive) in world.
