Here it is! The GODS of the Cinema thread!

This thread will serve as Round 1 of the ultimate greatest actor of all time poll!

 

The brainchild of the heavy metal duck from Manchester, treeduck and yours truly.

 

 

 

Directions:

 

1) Please choose 5 actors from each section. They can be your favorite or who you think is the best or greatest or whatever. That's it!

 

2) After a few days we'll check out the results.

 

 

The Results:

 

1) treeduck and I will take the 10 actors with the most votes from each section and move them to Round 2, a new thread in the near future. Doing the math, only 30 actors will get through this 1st round.

 

2) In case of ties, duck & I will use our executive powers and choose which cinema god moves on to Round 2.

 

3) The total tournament will consist of 3 rounds (polls/threads). At the end of Round 3 we will have our Ultimate GOD of the Cinema!

I thought about starting a forgotten gods poll (as an addition to this one) but I'm to tired at the moment. I think it would take too much time and complaining is a lot easier. :D-13: I swear I don't

If your favourite actor isn't on the list...we don't care! :LOL:

 

To be fair though, if we did leave out someone there could've been different reasons for doing so: we genuinely forgot, we had to push them out for one of these gods listed, or we just thought they were crap!!! ;)

 

No way in hell was Orlando Bloom going to make this list!!! :hail:

You know how long it took to compile this list?

 

You know how many messages it took between duck and I to get it to this?

 

Tell us because we don't know! :P

 

We just know it took a lot! :yes:

 

Some names were supposed to be in but were forgotten. Al was one.

 

Vincent Gallo didn't make the cut though.

 

We did make sure to put in your two favorites of all time - Steve McQueen and Paul Newman!

Anything else Lucas? But I'm not putting in that NYC actor who played Rocky's boss! I don't care how many 1 minute roles he had in 50 movies!

This guy was in from the start but right at the end I took him out in favour of Robert Shaw.

 

Yup Lucas. I had Woody written 3rd but duck argued the case for Shaw. I reasoned that Woody's a writer first, director second, and actor third much like Geddy is a bassist, vocalist, and keyboardist in that same order

Yeah he just plays small parts in his films here and there. He's not really been an actor since the 60's or 70's.

I like Rod Taylor but to be honest his name never came up in the discussions. I forgot about him. His legend is mostly built around the Time Machine, The Birds and some great fight scenes with William Smith and Ernest Borgnine.

 

John Wayne I did think of but I know JB doesn't like him so I didn't try and force him into the poll.

 

Bruce is ok in small doses but he's not great, he's just Bruce.

 

Costner I don't rate at all.
