So screwed up. Apparently, he's clinging to life.

I've always been a pretty big fan and the last couple of years he made back heavy into my rotation.  Especially the live videos.

I'll miss him terribly.  One of the few bands that put out almost no bad songs.

I heard about it in studio and I whipped around to the guy with his phone out to see if it was true. My eyes started tearing up a bit in all of my shock...I just never expected him to go. He seemed to me a given, consistently there, consistently great. Now he's gone... :rose:

I wasn't a big fan of Tom Petty, but the fact that this happened just mere hours after what happened in Las Vegas is a sullen reminder that anything can happen in this f***ed up world we live in :(

Bummer. I was a big fan. One of my childhood favorites. Full Moon Fever was one of the first albums I ever asked for.

RIP.

Ok, this is very weird, but they just said on our news that the reports that Tom Petty is dead are false according to his family. Supposedly he IS still in the hospital on life support.  Doesn't sound good in any case. My heart goes out to his family.

I thought this was a joke - I go out food shopping and come to this on top of Vegas, and a few things going on in my own life.
Not good.
Praying for you Tom Petty :rose:

Quote

1:35 PM PT -- Sources tell us at 10:30 Monday morning a chaplain was called to Tom's hospital room. We're told the family has a do not resuscitate order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live throughout the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. handled the emergency.

Am I a bad person if my mind immediately goes to that classic Python Holy Grail bit...?

Older bros played a lot of Damn the Torpedoes when it was new and I was just 7 or 8. The very cool Mad Max-esque You Got Lucky video got a lot of MTV airplay just a few years later. Add to the fact that Petty's hometown is about an hour's drive from mine (which means radio played him all the time--good) and you get Tom Petty and Heartbreakers being a constant for me growing up. He's had an impact. And I'm grateful. :rose:

You will be missed Mr. Tom Petty.  Thank you for the music.  I'm glad I got to see you in concert earlier this year. :rose:  (And if he by chance survives, he needs to read everybody's awesome comments on here).
