So since Geddy, Alex and Neil do lurk on here I have birthday present for Mr. Neil Peart. My mentor, my MAN and my all time favorite drummer.
Happy Birthday you old man!! Hope you are spending lots of quality time with your family instead of with your BMW bike!
A song for Neil while using his "New World Man" lyrics. By me, Earl.
"NEW MEDICARE MAN"
He's a shart stained toilet runner
He's a cynic turning red
He's a restless old man
Wants to retire instead.
He's got chronic arthritis in his entire body
Not sure if they will ever find a cure.
He's overweight and smokes red apples
But he loves his motorcycle, that's for sure.
Learning about his benefits as the old world man.
Burning to understand the heart of an old grumpy man.
He's made many mistakes
And has learned to hide the smile he fakes.
He's old enough to know what's right
But on the Santa Monica pier he likes to booze it.
He's old enough to get social security
And old enough for his pension plan.
He's a New Medicare Man
He's a medication receiver.
Turned an athletic body into a blob.
He was a writer and a drummer
And now he's just a puffy eyed overweight slob.
He's got a problem with his blood pressure
But his doctors have it under control.
He's got to walk a fine line
And eat Kraft Mac & Cheese in "The Smaller Bowl."
Trying to save the life of an old world man
Trying not to install a pace maker into the old world man
He's not concerned with yesterday
He knows he's retired and will never play.
He's stubborn enough to know he's done,
He's foolish enough to still eat at Cinnabon.
He's getting weak and is totally "Losing It."
But he's wise enough to accept that he's old...
"To the city of Immortals, marble white and purest gold........"
He's a New Medicare Man
Love you NEIL ELLWOOD PEART!!!!!
