What?!  Countdown doesn't hold a candle to The Body Electric.  TBE is awesome.  Countdown is just ok.

Well Ms. Girl, Countdown currently holds 7 candles to TBE's 10

Pfffffttt....

Yeah that means it's winning.

Yeah it's winning but it's not like this is a deserved ass whipping like Xanadu vs Rivendell should and would be. Polls aren't often this close.
It's not a competition.

Oh, wait, yes it is!

Win-ning...Punk. :poke:

Admittedly, TBE is no Xanadu...but  it's still a damn sight better than Countdown.

I think Countdown is more interesting musically - including the guitar, which, even though somewhat overshadowed by the keyboards, still has presence in the song (love the riff that's in the outro).  I think it does a better job of musically representing the event, the buildup to the launch - it's easy to imagine it as the soundtrack to the whole sequence.

The Body Electric, while I can dig it, is not as interesting musically.  It starts a bit weakly, with what sounds like a drum exercise, thin bass pops, and chord washes.  As a narrative, it's okay, and the song does pick up a bit.  The solo coming in after "mother of all machines" is cool, but then the song sort of stumbles back into that sort of impotent arrangment of parts.  I know this sounds like faint praise, but I do like the song.

Oh, that's no contest...Ghost Rider by a mile.

Nothing the Predator could do to him could kill him.

The same can't be said for what he could do to the Predator.

TBE has a dumb chorus:
1 0 0 1 0 0 1
SOS
1 0 0 1 0 0 1
In distress
1 0 0 1 0 0

This song could be really better with some different chorus.

It was meant as a joke.  And a way to have fun here.  You don't have to participate.

I know it was meant as a joke. I was just saying it's perfect as is.

Never really liked TBE till the CA tour...great live song!

This.  Never thought much of TBE or Grand Designs until hearing them on that tour.  Now I consider both to be favorites on their respective albums.

Countdown is good, but also kinda lightweight by Rush standards.

Countdown for me.  It was not a favorite until Rushgoober talked me into giving it another try.  Really liked it then.   TBE is just a nothing song for me.  Boring.  Countdown has grown on me and I really like it now.

You can't trust Rushgoober. He was a maniac!

He didn't like any black & white movies because they were black & white.

He thought Friends was one of the greatest tv shows of all time.

These are truths that're virtually impossible to prove now that he's gone and peoples' memories are dissolving.

P.S. I voted for Countdown too.
