Ghost Rider...

This whole album (Vapor Trails) is really powerful for me. A very close friend of mine (HUGE Rush fan) was dealing with an aggressive brain tumor...and VT came out when he came out of remission. He was gone several months later, but not before he saw Rush two final times... we went to his last show together (Irvine). The whole record reminds me of him. Bless you Tom Shannon.

and now, it occurs to me that Ghost Rider also reminds me of the road I have traveled over the past several years... metaphoric loss, as opposed to actual death. Death of relationship, death of old life while a new life is becoming real.

Shadows on the road behind

Shadows on the road ahead

Nothing can stop you now

Sunrise in the mirror

Lightens that invisible load

Riding on a nameless quest

Haunting that wilderness road

Like a ghost rider

Hearing it live in Irvine that year was wonderful.

A very touching story.

One of the best Rush songs ever that never gets enough love on here.

Some of Neil's best and most poignant lyrics too.

I am so sorry L.

I hate this song.

It awkward and has no melody and the whole thing is a disaster.

Like "Vapor Trails."

The way in is the way out.

I am getting out of this thread............

I must be the ultimate TROLL!

I can't stomach any song on this album.

When it came out I loved it.

Shit happens.

Damn, Karma.

I met Neil on the "Vapor Trails" Tour. It didn't go so well.

No wonder........

LOL!!!

I am kidding.

Meeting Neil by fate, destiny or luck at his tour bus and motorcycles over some lame ass Geddy and Alex meet and greet?

PRICELESS!

JB must love this song!!

Cue Neil snare to splash cymbal........

I agree with what this guy said last week:

I think they're Peart's best lyrics since The Pass. Musically, it's #2 off the album after Earthshine. Good song that's aided by those lyrics.

Overall grade: B+

What would you have done if Neil had gotten on his mobile and said "Michael, get in here now! Intruder!" then started to aggressively charge at you?

Imagine how much greater of a story it would've been?

Getting your ass kicked by Neil THEN Mosbach in the garage of a hockey arena!!!

Now THAT's l-i-v-i-n' !!!

PRICELESS!!!

Blood stains on my lips and teeth

Blood stains on my shirt again

Nothing can stop Earl now

Nah, you're not the only one. I don't really like any of the songs on the album either. I can tolerate them live but I never listen to this album. I agree about no melodies. It's worse than SAs.

I don't believe in what you ghotswriters say about this song, in my book it's horrible

I'm always surprised when people aren't moved when an artist truly bares his soul.

I have mixed feelings about this song. Parts of it are pretty decent but it goes on a bit too long like most of the other VT songs. Plus there is no vocal hook or strong melody to hang on to which was a recurring thing in their music starting with TFE

As much as I enjoy "Vapor Trails", this is one tune I always skip.

I can't shake the Marvel comic image of "Ghost Rider", and I find the arrangement a little overlong or overcooked or maybe even both.

Amazing Moon! We TOTALLY agree 2112%!

Being on a Forum and never meeting the people you type to kind of does suck because we mis that human inflection. The true human emotion is missed in just typing to each other.

I think you are totally fukking cool.

I was wrong about you.

Sadly I have a lame defense mechanism on here thanks to my past and not having a filter. I say what I feel and think with no boundaries. I know I can offend at times but forget the past.

I like that you and I can "TURN THE PAGE" and be friends.

Just typing out loud. Even if you don't feel the same way I am a big boy.

But yes, I love moving on from the past and caring about the NOW.

I sure as hell am not perfect and I'm a big mouth with big opinions.

Hope you get me by now.

I wish we could start a band.

Cheers!

I have no idea what the boys were thinking about when they wrote "Vape Smoke Trails" LOL!

It's a horrific album, just like cigarette, e vape and cigar smoke.

I will never judge anyone who loves to smoke Mary Jane. I am totally for it being legal but I will never touch it. Puts me to sleep.

My liver may fall out but my lungs are pink.

LOL! Kidding!

Ok I'll shut up now.

It's been like 115 degrees here in Nor Cal. INSANE!

I'm going "CRAZY FROM THE HEAT!"

Love,

DAVID LEE ROTH

LOL!

Agree. Love Vapor trails, the emotions, anomalies, melodies, heart on the sleeve aspect, the lot. But I find Ghost rider clunky, just not as honestly captured as the rest of the tracks.

Hes in prague mate, good buddy of mine..Melody is his name...really.

Where are the melodies absent in Vapor trails? Where are they present in any song ever mentioned?

I love Vapor trails, its one of Rush's finest albums for me. I get some don't get it, and accept it. I dont hold their balls to the wall over it. :D
