Steve McQueen was quite a talented desert motorcycle racer.

It's too bad he's not alive today to enjoy the much-improved dirt bikes they have now.

He did his own riding in the Great Escape on a triumph, which is kind of funny when you think about it because it should have been a German bike. He didn't do the jump though.

I loved On Any Sunday as a kid, and remember seeing it on the big screen (only 50 cents!).

This is my all time favorite chase from a James Bond movie because it involves two of my favorite things to do.

The bikes are 1980 Yamaha XT 500s. (The same model as in First Blood, just bigger and a little older) You'll notice that the bikes have the proper 4 stroke thumper sound.

For any of you who like Bond movies, notice the guy with the wine glass at 2:07. He's the same guy on the beach in The Spy WHo Loved Me and in Venice in Moonraker.

Did you watch that riding around America show on AMC hosted by the guy who plays Daryl on Walking Dead? (his character rides a motorcycle on the show) Is CHIPS the only show with motorcycling as a focus? The Fonz is another rider.

I've only seen the first couple of episodes but Sons of Anarchy focuses on a motorcycle gang

An interesting bit of trivia. The actor Rip Torn was supposed to play the role of George Hansen that was instead played by Jack Nicholson. But Torn and Hopper got into a knife fight while having dinner.

The story Hopper tells is a bit different than what others tell.

It makes you wonder what would have happened to Nicholson if things were different.

Fiddy cents? What, are you 75 years old?

I remember when the price was hiked up to $2.25. That was the late 70s.

Clearly, prices had/have a lot to do with region as goose isn't that old at all actually.

Great, funny documentary, featuring Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman...

Yes! My daughter brought this home one time and we watched it over and over. Very entertaining.

Yeah, it's so much fun to watch these blokes riding from one mishap to the next. I have the special edition DVD's which contain more than 8 hours of adventure and entertainment. Great trip!

Backs in the 70s, Rialto. CA had 50cent movie night, on Tuesdays, I think. I specifically remember On Any Sunday, Butch Cassidy..., the Sting, Race with the Devil, and the In Search Of... movies, among others.
