I was going to post this but couldn't be bothered in case I got moaned at again.

Recently spent a small fortune buying every album/EP/single to get all the Paradise Lost discography, and their covers are exceptional as are there b-side in general!!!!!

Paradise Lost mean the world to me.

Boris' cover of the My Bloody Valentine's "Sometimes" is my personal GCOAT (that's "greatest cover of all time") because they turned it into a drone metal song while being just as dreamy and lush as the original if not more...it's like submerging yourself in the ocean.

I...don't know how to feel about this...

The covers album in which this originated from Yellow Loveless (yellow because all bands featured are Japanese) IMO is mostly full of misses with the exception of aforementioned Boris' cover. Either it's too close to the original or it's too different to the point where the original intent and drive of the song is gone.

Boris shifts between drone metal, noise rock, and sludge metal the most among many genres they've toyed with in their 25 years pf existence so this cover shows only one side of their sound.

Honestly, I'm not surprised by people's reaction to this cover though. You either get drone metal or you don't.

It's not the style it's the fact I hold the original a bit too high haha

It's hard to think of a best cover I've ever heard. I do in general like it when songs have alternative arrangements, which is usually done by fans, and which I adore when it is done live.

It's interesting how for really old songs, the original version is not usually the most popular. Looking back, people just pick the rendition they enjoyed the most or by their most favorite artist. I wonder if this will be the case in thirty years going forward; that many songs from the 90's and 00's that I enjoy will just become songs that are not explicitly tied to their artist. I think it'll be an interesting creative thing. Sorry I'm rambling

I like Daughter's rendition of Get Lucky.

Sure, that's a valid reason. Loveless is one of the very few albums that I hold in such high regard, I rate it a very strong 10.
