Texas King
Name a classic rock song by one band that sounds a lot like another song by another band? In other words a song by one band for which you think that was ripped off by another band? Here I go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUHtJJ1Fgjs This tune sounds alike All Right Now by Free. Narps
This may not be specific enough but I had heard tale that years ago our own Alex Lifeson borrowed some riffs from Neal Schon. Not sure how accurate that info was however....lol

Mystic Slipperman
The chorus of Oasis "Stand By Me" sounds more than a little like Mott the Hoople's "All The Young Dudes". Makes me smile every time I hear it.
Lucas
The Damned's "Life Goes On" ends up as Nirvana's "Come As You Are" And somewhere in between, Killing Joke plays "Eighties"
ReRushed
Copping a riff is different than copping a melody or an arrangement. A riff can sound similar but not a melody or arrangement. Melodies and arrangements separate the originals from the outright thefts. When is the line crossed? It's hard to say most of the time. I am always confused by who is sued and who is not. Rick N. Backer
For some reason I can't post videos, but listen to Hendrix's Little Wing and then Rainbow's Catch the Rainbow. How Blackmore didn't get sued is a mystery to me.

riiich
I always thought Black Sabbath's "Evil Woman" sounded very similar to Deep Purple's "Black Knight" Also these two: Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz" and Screemer's "Interplanetary Twist" https://www.youtube....h?v=ewFBuYHldeY and also these two Marvel Movie featured songs: Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and the Spinner's "Rubberband Man" https://www.youtube....h?v=DwUOkbYLnCQ then there's Aerosmith's "Train Kept a Rollin" and Foghat's "Honey Hush" finally just the beginning of these two songs Garbage's "Cherry Lips" and T-Connection's "Do What You Wanna Do" Edited May 11, 2019 by riiich

driventotheedge
For those of you that don't know the story.......John Fogerty was sued for plagiarizing himself. His "Old Man Down The Road" (solo song on the Centerfield album) was supposedly him stealing his own song, "Run Through The Jungle" which he wrote for Creedence when HE was that band. In reality it was an attempt by the owner of Fantasy Records, Saul Zanz to continue a long running feud between the 2 over publishing. Fogerty's "Zanz Can't Dance" which was also one of the songs on his album Centerfield, was a not veiled slam at Zanz by Fogerty. Zanz promptly sued John for defamation. blueschica
Because Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song is one of my favorites, I notice when I hear "it" other places. Which is a lot. The most blatant one I remember is Still Of The Night, by Whitesnake. Listen to the first 45 seconds or so- The rhythm, vocal structure and even a bit of the Whitesnake riff come right from Led Zepp. I like David Coverdale and all but Still was definitely "inspired" by Zeppelin.
