After looking at the Francis Ford Coppola-directed movies, I realized how few I've seen: 7.

I'd give him a 5-2 record with the two I disliked being Bram Stoker's Dracula (forgettable) and for the awful segment he directed in New York Stories.

I haven't seen anything he's directed in the last 25 years.

Is anything in that time worth watching?

How does he stack up in the world of directors?

I've seen 9* all the way through, and they were solid, from good to great. The four film run from Godfather through Apocalypse Now is truly remarkable.

*Finian's Rainbow

Godfather

The Conversation

Godfather II

Apocalypse Now

The Outsiders

Peggy Sue Got Married

Tucker

Godfather III

I was torn between The Godfather and the Godfather part 2. I also thought Apocalypse Now was good. I chose the Godfather as my personal favorite.

I also have only seen 6 of his movies though of the ones I have seen, only Bram Stokers Dracula stood out as being truly a dud.

He is an above average director.

I have only seen the Godfather movies (lots of times, all of them) and Apocalypse Now (2 or 3 times).

I like them all a lot, the one I like least of these is Godfather III

I remember really enjoying Tucker. I need to re-watch it to determine if it's as good as I remember it.

I think the Godfather III is a pretty good movie that suffers from casting. The movie needed Robert Duvall. Apparently, Coppola agrees. Without Duvall the movie feels incomplete. All the criticism of Sofia Coppola's casting is deserved. She just could not carry the weight and importance of the character. Otherwise, it's a good movie.

So nobody would recommend any of his flicks past Godfather III?

He's been phoning it in ever since.

Yeah? That sucks.

Is Godfather III worth a watch? I haven't seen it. I'd need to see parts 1 and 2 again as it's been so long since the last time.

They re-worked the whole thing into a mini-series format that I saw some time ago, to get rid of the whole flashback thing. I thought that worked pretty well.

It's a little difficult to follow the business deal with all its connections IMO

I need to see more of these . . . I've only seen Dementia 13, The Conversation, The Godfather I and II, and about a quarter of Dracula ( which I turned off )

Other than Dracula, I've thoroughly enjoyed all of them

How about the one starring Vincent Gallo?

I kept falling asleep in Dracula.

I just watched the trailer ... It looks worth watching ... Kind of embarrassed to say that I had never heard of it !!

I'm more surprised that you've never seen Apocalypse Now or The Outsiders.

And I don't think I want to click "view" to find out who picked "I've never seen any Coppola movie". Unless the person is really young (like 15-16), it's a shocker.

Both are movies that I really need to see, and have been meaning to since the days of VHS !!!!

I can imagine a conversation in 1984 with my friend Ralph, who worked at The Video Store, while we were browsing the titles after closing:

Hey Luc, you want to watch Apocalypse Now tonight ??

umm, ok, sure .... no wait, you've got FINAL EXAM ?!?!?! .. Let's watch that !!
