"Borg/McEnroe" to be served up this September and will have the epic 1980 Wimbledon final as its centerpiece.

http://m.imdb.com/title/tt5727282/?ref_=tt_rec_tt

Directed by Janus Metz Pedersen...Who?

Bjorn Borg played by Sverrir Gudnason...Who?

Vitas Gerulaitis played by Robert Emms...Who?

Lennart Bergelin played by Stellan Skarsgard...Good actor!

John McEnroe played by Shia LeBouf...NOOOOO!!!!!!

....Shia LeBouf?!!! Just because he's a cock like McEnroe was doesn't mean he can do justice to this! One of the greatest rivals in sports history and certainly one of the greatest matches in tennis history! And Shia LeBouf will be a part of it?!

f**k.

I'm sure they only picked him because of his looks. He has no acting ability.

Your first sentence might be right.

Your second sentence CERTAINLY is right.

Really though, the controversies surrounding Shia LeBouf's life probably helped too. But McEnroe is more than just an a-hole (unlike LeBouf).

Tennis-wise, McEnroe was a genius. He's the only player, past or present, I can think of that often played better AFTER he was angry. He's also quite good at commentating and analyzing matches.

I'd rather see a straight up documentary with both Borg & McEnroe + other players of the day analyzing that historic match and the events surrounding it.

Yeah, I'm wondering what a dramatization could possibly add to the equation. Maybe some insight into the more reserved Borg?

Peter Horton WAS definitely Borg-like...though that sounds too Trekkie

Probably the relation/influence of Borg's coach at the time portrayed by the very capable Skarsgard

When I first saw the title of the thread I was thinking it was a documentary !

The guy that married Saorise Ronan in "Brooklyn" would have been a good John McEnroe. He already has playing a native New Yorker down pat; he just would have had to work on the tennis! I thought he was a good actor. Shia LeBouf- :(

This guy?

He's automatically a better choice because he's not LeBouf!

Ving Rhames as John McEnroe would be a better choice than LeBouf!

:P

I'm a huge tennis fan and can remember watching Borg/McEnroe Wimbledons when I was a kid, but I have no plan to see this movie because LeBouf is so insufferable. I'd rather watch Miley Cyrus play John McEnroe.
