I know, no real need to start a topic for this....but. This video takes me right back to when I was 15 more effectively than any I have seen. Rush or otherwise. I have come to appreciate this song more and more over the years. Is there any consensus amongst this group as to the best Rush video? Thanks.

I've always liked the song, and over time, it has only gotten better ... The video is forever etched in my heart and brings back the memories of early MTV and high school, so of course, I'm going to be partial to it ...

It does capture a sort of geeky vibe that I'm not sure the band was even aware of - Neil's awkward sweater, Geddy glancing into the camera - the band themselves were, again, on the outside looking in, but it was Rush, it was unique and I love it ..

And I love Tempest ... best arcade game ever

Subdivisions and Driven are the cream of the crop for me...my 14 year old saw the Subdivisions video for the first time last month and her only comment was, "Daddy, why were they so mad? Was it because everyone was picking on that kid?" God love her.

Appreciate the replies.

I was at high school from 74-77.I was sought of geeky, long haired guitar player, but not a complete nerd. That was left to gamers, computer, library types. And girls that didn't look like Farrah Fawcett or whatever her name was. When i heard and eventually saw Subdivisions it immediately reminded me of school years. And Rush was one of those geeky bands that only myself liked. The clip is no great shakes technically,Peter Gabriel had that one covered with Sledgehammer, but the message is strong.

Total agreement - love this video and it brings me back to seeing it on MTV ~1982 when I was just starting up with drums and shortly after High School. Watching Neil play was the ultimate drum-porn (pre-internet, it was the only drum-porn!) In some ways, I was also that kid in the video; However, I did have my band and a bunch of friends that were basically the freaks and geeks community (reminds me I want to watch "Freaks and Geeks" with my teenage son) We had our own basement parties! Prior to that time, I was also playing Dungeons and Dragons. lol. Man, I've been very nostalgic for the early 80's lately (anyone watch Stranger Things last year? had some of that 80's vibe.) The Subdivisions video certainly brings me back to that time (however, there are other things - certain music or movies successfully encapsulate that era for me.)

Me too! Part of getting older, I guess. Sometimes, I miss that simpler time when we did not have all of our little devices that create the expectations from everyone in your life that you should always be accessible. Is my memory shot or was there a live video version of Subdivisions where someone other than Geddy played some of the keyboards? Hugh Syme perhaps?

If your memory isn't shot then I haven't seen the vid you're talking about

Although I have not had a prostate exam yet I am now fifty years old. Even now just thinking about the song and images of the video takes me right back to the basement bars, being cool in the backs of cars.

Ah good times.

Definitely their best video, but there's not a lot to choose from there. I kind of liked Big Money when it was first out, but watching it now, I think it's funny in a not trying to be funny kind of way. Alex looked like he was doing a cameo on Miami Vice

Can't forget Aimee Mann floating around and through Geddy's mullet on Time Stand Still.

There are days when I think Malignant Narcissism is their best video....or Half The World...or Vital Signs....or....

Geddy wouldn't have let that happen, he was pretty proud of his multitasking ability back then. I remember the Countdown video even showed a short section of him singing, hitting the keys with one hand and plucking his bass with the other.. hell I'm sure he had notes coming from under his feet too!
