YOUR Local Hangouts. C'mon, I Know you Got' 'Em!

OK, there are restaurants for this cuisine and that, and bars for drinking or watching sports or fraternizing, and the rest. But is there one, and ONLY ONE, local restaurant, bar, or other local place that you're in so often that it's your "go to" hangout?

For me it's Rickey's, a neighborhood bar about 3 miles from the house that has been in business since 1955. It used to be just a place Karen and I went into occasionally for a meal, but now I'm in there 4-6 times a month at least. a typical racetrack oval bar in the middle with booths along the outside walls and tables in the rest of the open spaces. Sandwiches, burgers, seafood. appetizers, and the best damn wings in the area. Yeah they got Bud and Miller Lite on tap, but they also tap Yeungling, Sam Adams Boston Lager, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale! Weekends, a major game, or if I just want to hang out and drink and scarf down some wings, I'm there. Just the perfect little neighborhood watering hole. They've been going this long, and it ain't broke, so there's nothing TO fix. :martini: :cosmo: :hotdog: :burger: :bacon: :hail: :hail: :hail: menu below.

So, what's your favorite hangout? Post 'em here! Cheers!

McDonalds...

Really? Is it a cool place to go in Sweden or in your neighborhood or something? It's just that the ones here don't encourage hanging out all that much. They used to when I was growing up but they've changed the layouts or seating I think.

We are still trying to find one after our favorite changed hands 2 years ago. Nothing else has been the same, sadly. It was a little Thai restaurant and their food was just awesome. A woman named Amy and her husband Doug ran it and did most of the cooking and it was soooo good! It was very popular, and after years they could retire nicely. A relative took it over and it's good but they don't make things the same way (doesn't that sound horrible but you get used to stuff . . ) The Mexican restaurant with the big sports TV's is pretty good and has good beers but it's kind of a drive.

There's a bar in the city that I've been going to since 2004. There've only been two bartenders the whole time and they're the owners. It's a really small dive with only two sofas and maybe 6 stools at the counter. In the afternoon, it's a used clothing store but at night it turns into a bar...a rack or two of used clothing still hang about during bar hours. I don't go there as much these days but I still hit it up about once or twice a season.

The first pics I ever put on TRF was at that bar with some friends on my birthday in 2005...

This one I put up on TRF just a month or two ago. It was at that same bar but with different friends:

And a bunch of other times in between that...

No. I am just messing. :P It´s only junk food and it is beetles in their places. I have not eaten at McDonalds since I was a little kid. Disgusting place!

Sadly now deserted and crumbling into disrepair, The Dower Hotel in Northern Aberdeenshire, NE Scotland, just a two minute stagger from my old house.

Real fires, real beer, and real people........

So why not apply for a job there? Maybe you could make it a nicer place. Hell, you could even work you're way up to a management position. ;)

The holy grail of tahoe burgers...the mushroom swiss at IZZy's Burger Spa. After a few hours of snowmobiling the Tahoe Rim Trail, I took my nephew, his wife and the Lad for some nourishment...
