very close lists. i still remember when Free fallin was released. that played that vid on MTV every day, lol

Mick

It seemed like that video was shown about every half hour at the time.

I watched way too much MTV between '83 and '93

i would have been 6 or 7. but that vid and the weird ass vid for Don't Come Around here No More are imprinted on my brain forever.

Mick

Yeah, the video for Don't Come Around Here was an odd one and it was played all the time. Haven't seen that one in forever. I'll have to youtube it and see what it looks like now.

i was little so it scared me, lol.

Just watched it a little while ago. All I can think of now that i'm an adult is this video would be a trip if I was drunk or high watching it. I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for with it.

Petty is amazing.

Springsteen is amazing.

Both deserve to win but only one wrote Drive All Night.

Springsteen. But lately it could go either way, and we all know I LOVE Springsteen.

I love the second and third Springsteen albums a LOT.

I really enjoy Petty but have yet to hear an album of rank as highly as:

Greetings

The Wild

BTR

Darkness

River

Magic

But I have no doubt I will come to love him immensely!

Every weekend my wife and I run some errands in Freehold NJ. Every time we pass the house Springsteen grew up in and his high school I sing "My Hometown". It drives my wife crazy.

Who has the bigger appeal to you?

For me it's The Boss by a thin margin.

The Boss is a liberal douche but I will give him credit for his energized live performances.

He can't sing worth a damn. All he does is shout.

He's a bore in the studio.

His best musician was Max Weinberg.

Here's a Canadian spin to this thread.

Tom Cochrane or Barney Bentall.

I love Tom Cochrane and have never even heard of Barney Bentall. But because I like to check out and support Canadian artists, I will definitely have a listen to some of his music.

Likewise. Tom Cochrane has some great stuff, esp with Red Rider... I'll check out Barney.

I like Tom Petty: Refugee, American Girl, The Waiting

I like Springsteen too: I'm On Fire, If I Should Fall Behind, Brilliant Disguise

Wow. Rock 101 (CFMI FM) in Vancouver and other Canadian classic rock stations play the Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts song

in rotation a lot. The group have been around for 30 years.

However like Blue Rodeo and The Tragically Hip, Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts didn't crack the international market.
