EagleMoon
One of my favorite books. I don't feel so bad when someone dies in their 90s. They have lived a long life.
catherine
I love Watership Down. It's sad that it was his time but I thought the same as you eaglemoon, at least he lived a long and hopefully full life. R.I.P.
Weakly Criminal
What an awesome contribution he made. He made me think about how animals must have feelings much as we do, but also, perhaps unintentionally, the differences. As a child his books made me cry, as an adult they made me think. Anthropomorphic views of animals are fine to teach children kindness, but it's not reality.
Fridge
I loved Watership Down as a child, and grew to appreciate it even more when I learned as an adult it was an allegorical reworking of the tales of Odessyus. he wrote some other fine novels as well, notably Shardik and the rather dark Girl in the Swing.
