[Rushian King]

415-- Panic In The Streets (1950). Completing my Kazan hat trick. Could've gone with better known movies which I like a lot like A Face In The Crowd or Baby Doll but I'm going with this little seen noirish thriller. The always great Richard Widmark plays a police doctor who finds that a murder victim was also infected by the plague. The race is on to find out who he is, who he might've come in contact with and, most importantly, who his killer is who might also be infected and spreading the disease. Jack Palance in his movie debut.

Time for me to post an oldie. Of course I'm referring to the classic black and white western starring Gary Cooper. I won't go into the plot details here since that is easy to look up on wikipedia(or imdb or wherever)but I will say this must be one of the most intense films ever made.

But unlike The Exorcist and Sorcerer which are universally considered great films, Cruising is the ( unjustly ) rejected black sheep of the great director's career .. and the same could be said with Cruising and Al Pacino - the film that they have disowned ..

I haven't actually seen that many films from the golden age of cinema but I happen to own this one(along with the above mentioned Shane)so I thought I would list it. Weird that it's not on here yet. Anyway from wikipedia: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is a 1948 American dramaticadventurous neo-western written and directed by John Huston. It is a feature film adaptation of B. Traven's 1927 novel of the same name, about two financially desperate Americans, Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Bob Curtin (Tim Holt), who in the 1920s join old-timer Howard (Walter Huston, the director's father) in Mexico to prospect for gold.

Mario Bava creates the template for a thousand body count movies that follow .. Absolutely beautifully shot and enormously influential early giallo film that set the bar for all slasher films .... The colors and camera work alone make this film worthy of the list ... Peeping Tom is my choice for the first modern horror film, but four years later Blood And Black Lace takes it to the next level
