What you will say on this one?
I think Led Zeppelin is a superior band, Rush can come close to them, but they can never surpass them. I think these 4 LZ albums: Led Zeppelin I, II, IV and Physical Graffiti beat any Rush 70's or 80's album.

Led Zep didn't last very long.  Was it twelve years?

Rush lasted forty years.

Some here will say this isn't a fair poll.

Me, I couldn't put them in the same category.  Led Zep were giants.  Too big to personalize.

Rush stands alone and has a way of capturing your heart.

I agree with you though that Rush cannot surpass LZ.

I can't pick in a poll like this.  I love rush more than any other band but I can't deny th greatness of zep. It's not their fault they only lasted until 1980.  Had bonham lived who knows how long they may have gone.

Rush by a light year. Led Zep was great but they weren't around long enough. Rush wins by sheer volume of awesome music.

I would pick Rush even if we put only their 70's music against each other

Led Zeppelin never did anything that can come close to the intensity of Cygnus X1

But had they had more time, I'm sure Jimmy Page would have eventually stolen it

I think Led Zeppelins debut album is one of the best albums of all time, I can't say that for any others really (maybe IV?).

Rush has a lot of better albums in my opinion and lasted a lot longer.

I would make this comparison of albums:
Rush debut vs LZ debut - LZ by a landslide

1)2112 vs LZ 1 - LZ 1
2)AFTK vs LZ II - LZ II
3)Hemispheres vs LZ III - Hemispheres
4)PeW vs LZ IV - LZ IV
5)MP vs HoH - MP
6)Signals vs Physical Graffiti - PG by far.

That's it.

It's really tough.......only in the sense that i don't listen to much of either anymore.  though i do have houses of the Holy spinning now.

but if i have to choose and i'm going to listen to one..........Rush.  more music way more diverse a band.

Zeppelin has about 2 albums i just love.  and would take anywhere with me  rush has about 8.

not close reallly.  and not fair. Zep burned out as a band pretty fast. and couldn't be helped cause........Bonham

I wonder how the same poll would do on the LZ forum?  Any thoughts?

I actually agree with your list with one possible exception.

Kashmir is not thought well of on TRF by many, but I love it.  I'm just trying to figure out if I love it more than The Weapon.

Edit:  Make that two exceptions.  I think PeW is a better album than LZIV.

OK then. A question for you: Signals or Physical Graffiti?
I think if you would ask Alex Lifesson this, I'm pretty sure that his answer would be: "PG by a lightyear".   ;)
