Geddy and Alex were on George Strombouloupoulos' CBC radio show tonight for a new interview and here is the link to it-

http://strombo.com/r.....m/r.../radio/ (Thanks RIAB !) I'm sorry, I don't know how long it is, I just started listening to it.  So far, just looking
back at receiving the key to the city and Caress of Steel but they are supposed to be discussing the Rush: Time Stand Still documentary along with the upcoming 2112 40th anniversary release. (Turns out it is about 30 minutes long.)

Should be interesting . . . about 6 minutes in and Geddy said he is over being in denial and is accepting that they will not tour again .

(Edited to remove the part that said music from 2112:40th anniversary will be played. If they did do that, it wasn't included in the online interview.)

So he lied to get Neil to tour....

Actually considering all the mistakes he made during R40 I don't think that's necessarily true.

George ( to Geddy ): Do you still have a book of songs ready to go ??

Geddy: ... no

George: No songs left ?

Geddy: sounds like he's smirking .. no songs

Alex: whispers that's not true

Alex: ... when we write together, that's a really special thing

George: Does that still happen ?

Alex: ahh, well, we haven't . . .

Geddy: cuts in not yet, but we probably will

It's obvious that Geddy and Alex will be doing something together in the future ...

YES !!!

Lerxst has superhero healing powers. It's a wonder what 1.5 years difference and desire to play will do

I think if someone's life "revolves 'round the guys" from Rush, then someone should probably get out more.
Just my 2 Canadian cents (equivalent of 1.49 US cents).

Nice to see George S back doing what he does best: pop culture/current events interviews.
He was sadly not so good on Hockey Night in Canada.

Yes, but JB, in the interview, Geddy says that it is strange to see these pic appear online, not knowing how they got there - and he referenced this pic

It's a very positive interview ... Both Geddy and Alex seem very inspired to getting back to creating some music

I think Stroumboulopoulos is the best interviewer out there. He doesn't just ask questions from a list, he asks questions based on the answers he's getting and he doesn't ask stupid questions.

Sadly, George was out of his element for HNiC, despite being a hockey fan. Maybe another format would've worked for him, but the poor guy was hamstrung by an expensive, elaborate, and painfully unnecessary studio set-up, and saddled with annoying co-hosts, which made it difficult for him to connect with an audience. George frequently would perch on the edge of his chair and talkasfastaspossible, which didn't help matters with the old-school hockey fans.
As you say, he is a very talented interviewer, and it's good to see him back in his comfort zone, and without the shiny suit, skinny pants, and over-caffeination!

Guess Geddy and Alex haven't read Neil's book either.  I'm mean, anything can happen.  Even if the probability is remote to the point of practical disregard.

I know.

A new Rush album is not happening anytime soon, if ever. I am trying to understand fan's still thinking Neil is coming back. He has clearly stated it is over. He is done playing drums forever.

That tells me Rush is no longer a band.

Alex and Geddy can easily write and record a new album and get a new drummer. But it won't be called Rush.

Am I missing something?

He's good with hockey when he's in a more relaxed setting doing HIS thing.

As an-uber fan, I can understand the denial; but I think many just have not read Neil's own words about it (it wasn't always easy to endure!)  It's not just one sentence or statement (though reading him refer to himself as ~"no longer a lyricist" or "i'll no longer play drums in anger" are pretty definitive).  Taken as a whole, almost every book after Ghost Rider leads to one place - and it is summed up in Far and Wide.

As much as I throw-up a little thinking about Ged and Alex playing with someone else, I would be happy to see that happen and I think it would be very interesting.  If you can accept that Rush is done; then why not!  (please don't call it Rush; not that they would!)  I have my personal favorites that I'd like to see in that position, but think back to Geddy's solo album - Matt Cameron is great and sort of a different style than Neil.  More groove oriented (though with odd time skills), but not the Portnoy technician type.  I'd suspect their choice would be more along those lines.

I don't think it's Geddy or Alex's job to read Neil's book to find out where he is on Rush's future or lack thereof.  I would hope that Neil would have enough respect for them to sit down with them and have a face-to-face conversation.  While of course we, the fans, don't know whether or not that has happened, it's been pretty heavily implied that he hasn't.  Either way, Geddy and Alex are going to create again, Neil is going to do whatever he does, and I'm sure it's very difficult for Geddy and Alex not to hope for the possibility that Neil will change his mind.  Even if he has come right out to their faces and said "I'm finished and will never play drums again," you really can't blame them for not being able to shut, lock, deadbolt and board up that door just yet.
