Retired form the band in like 1990 but was just as important to the band as any other member.

I got to see him with them on the Steel Wheels tour, in December of '89- I didn't realize that he left the band that soon after that. (I saw the Stones again in '94, and I did know he was gone by then). Big happy birthday!

I think if you grew up in the 60's 70's and were into rock music, you would appreciate The Rolling Stones. Keith Richards has written some of the most memorable riffs in rock. I agree that after 50 years of writing music, they ain't what they used to be but looking back at their catalog of music, they are far from being overrated.

He has been married to the same woman since 1964. I have a Rolling Stones story. For a short time I worked for a security company and I had a job guarding the patio of the restaurant where the Stones announced the Bridges to Babylon tour. They came out on the patio for photo-ops and the only one to acknowledge me was Charlie Watts. He said hello and asked if I was enjoying the day. True story.
